Job Title: Psychology Intern
Location: Johor Bahru
Duration: 3-6 months
Job Summary
The Psychology Intern will support the treatment center's mission by assisting in therapeutic, administrative, and research tasks to aid individuals experiencing addiction and psychiatric challenges. Working under the supervision of licensed professionals, the intern will gain hands-on experience in mental health assessment, counseling, and group facilitation, while applying evidence-based practices in a clinical setting.
Key Responsibilities
Client Support & Assessment
Conduct supervised intake interviews and psychological assessments.
Assist in developing individualized treatment plans.
Monitor and document client progress in line with clinical protocols.
Therapeutic Interventions
Co-facilitate group therapy sessions, including psychoeducation and skills-based workshops.
Provide one-on-one counseling under supervision.
Support clients with relapse prevention strategies and coping skills.
Administrative Duties
Maintain accurate and confidential client records.
Prepare reports, case notes, and session summaries.
Assist in organizing and scheduling therapy sessions or activities.
Research & Learning
Attend staff meetings and case consultations to learn multidisciplinary approaches.
Conduct research on addiction, psychiatric disorders, and evidence-based treatments.
Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance clinical skills.
Program Development
Assist in creating and implementing new therapeutic initiatives.
Collect and analyze client feedback to improve program effectiveness.
Requirements
Education:
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Diploma's program in Psychology, or a related field.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Empathy and sensitivity toward individuals with addiction and mental health challenges.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Other Qualifications:
Prior experience (volunteer or professional) in mental health or addiction settings is an advantage.
Willingness to commit to the internship schedule, including potential evening or weekend shifts.
