ABOUT THE ROLE

You will be part of a project team consisting of Project Management, Business Analysis, Software Development, Testing and Support.


It is an exciting opportunity to work in this team as a Python Developer. You will be a critical part of the Project team and constantly drive new ideas, and refine the system to remain market leaders with our product.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

You will:

Investigate and resolve application functionality related issues Make fundamental and strategic contributions to system design Contribute to the documenting of the code and application Contribute to the development for specific projects as well as day to day coding and fixing Be used to working to the full software lifecycle and be involved in the design, development and maintenance of the product Work with other teams within the business, such as Business Analysis, Testing, Support
Drive innovation and stay ahead of the curve with new technologies and out of the box thinking

You will be:

A motivated, self-starter with a love of programming Proficient in the English language Flexible with a can do attitude and a strong eye for detail Able to prioritise, meet deadlines, and manage changing priorities Committed and enthusiastic to the job and quality of work Able to work independently and in a team environment Analytical and have strong problem solving skills Collaborative and willing to compromise to find solutions Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate effectively with a technical and non-technical audience You must have sound interpersonal, facilitative and negotiation skills A results-oriented individual who thrives working in a fast-paced environment Able to demonstrate you can maintain a calm approach and sound judgement when operating under pressure Able to demonstrate highest levels of integrity Willing to be flexible with working hours if needed Creative minded and able to work to find solutions to unique problems Methodical, organised and have strong knowledge of IT infrastructures

You must have:

Essential

Computer Science degree or equivalent 2 years + commercial experience as a Python Developer in web applications Proficiency in Python 3.0 or above Excellent understanding of Python and strong knowledge of various Python Libraries, API's and toolkits Demonstrable front and back end development experience SQLalchemy DB ORM, MVC model, SQL/MYSQL, JS/jQuery Linux (as developer environment) Web framework knowledge of Pylons or any similar framework like Django, Pyramid Understanding and experience of the software development lifecycle and code repositories such as Git, including branching and merging flows Deep understanding of how to write maintainable code and understand the importance of testing Experience writing unit tests and code reviewing Experience using GitHub Experience working in a software company coding on large, complex projects

Desirable

Celery messaging Rabbit MQ messaging Experience of using project management tools such as JIRA, Confluence Experience working on mobile applications Experience of RESTful web service development Worked as a developer in logistics, post or transport companies
