Requirements
1. Vocational Certificate or Diploma in Electrical or Electronics in a related discipline.
2. Minimum 2-3 years of experience in QAQC for switchgear, control panels, or power distribution systems-related fields.
3. Familiar with ISO standards and quality management systems.
4. Able to communicate effectively in Chinese, English, and Malay.
5. Willing to travel when required.
6. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive attitude.
7. Candidates with supervisory-level experience are preferred.
8. Strong communication and coordination abilities.
9. Must know basic Microsoft Office, e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
10. Soft Skills:
- Strong technical knowledge of LV/MV switchgear, distribution boards, MCCs, and protection relays.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, GA drawings, and wiring diagrams.
- Hands-on experience with testing instruments and inspection tools.
Responsibilities
1. Incoming Material Inspection
- Verify incoming components (breakers, relays, CTs, VTs, busbars, terminals, enclosures, wiring, etc.) against approved specifications and drawings.
- Check certificates of conformity, test reports, and compliance with IEC/IEEE/BS standards.
- Ensure compliance with ISO and relevant quality standards.
- Perform routine quality checks, including:
I. Visual and dimensional inspection
II. Insulation resistance tests
III. Continuity and functional tests
IV. Interlock verification
V. High-voltage (HV) tests (where applicable)
- Coordinate with production, engineering, and procurement teams on quality issues.
- Verify component and breaker arrangements, ratings, wiring details (per drawings), and nameplate arrangements.
- Ensure traceability of materials and components.
2. In-Process Inspection (Assembly & Wiring)
- Inspect panel fabrication, busbar installation, wiring routing, crimping, torquing, labeling, and mechanical assembly.
- Verify correct installation of protection relays, meters, PLCs, and control devices.
- Ensure workmanship meets quality standards and internal QA procedures.
- Monitor adherence to approved drawings and schematics.
- Perform electrical tests such as continuity tests, insulation resistance (IR) tests, high potential (Hi-Pot) tests, torque checks, and circuit breaker contact resistance tests.
- Ensure all testing and measurement equipment used is properly calibrated and has valid certificates.
3. Final Inspection & Testing
- Conduct final visual and dimensional inspection of switchgear panels and distribution boxes.
- Witness and verify routine tests, including:
- Insulation resistance (IR) tests
- High-potential (Hi-Pot) tests
- Continuity checks
- Functional tests
- Interlock verification
- Protection relay testing (if applicable)
- Ensure safety clearances and creepage distances are compliant.
4. Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) & Site Acceptance Test (SAT)
- Prepare FAT/SAT procedures and checklists. (when required)
- Witness FAT with customers and consultants (when required).
- Ensure the test certificate for testing Equipment from outsource is updated and ensure compliance with specifications and
- Support SAT activities on-site when required.
5. Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare and maintain QAQC records, including:
I. Inspection and test plans (ITP)
II. Checklists
III. NCR reports
IV. Test reports
V. FAT/SAT reports
- Ensure all quality documents are properly controlled and archived.
