KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Plan and prepare an annual budget for material corrosion inspection activities and manage expenses within the approved budget.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders, including the Project Management Team (PMT) and Subject Matter Experts (SME), to jointly analyse data, make well-informed decisions based on evidence, address and resolve issues.
• Analyse and interpret current and historical material corrosion-related data from various projects, explore opportunities for improvement incorporating lessons learnt and industrial best practices.
• Proactively provide inputs to Project Delivery Excellence, Digitalization, and Commercial Excellence.
• Actively provide training, coaching, and guidance for Sarawak Energy staff and contractors in Material Corrosion and QAQC inspections.
• Lead team in the establishment and review of project quality management related to material corrosion policy, procedures, guidelines, and standards in projects.
• Collaborate with design engineers to implement material corrosion strategy plans, concepts, and necessary prerequisites of materials, specifications, and material selection, ensuring the integration of corrosion-resistant materials and techniques into the design phase while providing guidance on the selection of appropriate corrosion-resistant materials for the project, considering factors like environmental conditions, best industry standards, and the project\'s expected service life requirements.
• Provide recommendations and input on material selection specifications for projects starting from FEL 2, including interfacing from FEL 1 by understanding user requirements, selecting the best-suited technical solutions, and preparing scope of work/technical specifications when necessary.
• Drive the implementation of equipment and material preservation and storage, testing, and remedial measures related to material corrosion-related quality management.
• Lead team to provide technical advice to address and resolve complex, material corrosion-related quality challenges as needed, ensuring the safe and reliable functioning of equipment and materials, and develop emergency response plans in the event of unexpected corrosion-related incidents during construction that could affect safety or project integrity.
• Execute technical audits and health checks on-site and collaborate with the Project Management Team (PMT) to ensure quality assurance measures are upheld.
• Ensure that internal stakeholders comply with HSSE requirements.

THINKING ENVIRONMENT & CHALLENGES:

• Managing internal and external stakeholder\'s interests and expectations effectively.
• Consistency in staying objective when performing project quality assurance, control and focus on it\'s requirements, codes and standards.
• Sound knowledge and understanding of the applications, specifications and requirement of material selection, corrosion control solution / system.

QUALIFICATION & WORK EXPERIENCE:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Applied Sciences / Chemical Engineering or any other relevant qualification with minimum 10 to 12 years relevant experience in Corrosion Material Engineering or Inspection.
• Proficiency in Civil & Structure principles, operations and maintenance in utility power plants.
• Strong understanding of power plant safety, hydro & thermal operations, Grid Code, and statutory requirements.
• In-depth knowledge of corrosion principles, material selection, and structural corrosion management.
