Bachelor\'s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
3-5 years of experience in quantity surveying, preferably within the construction industry.
Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and cost estimation methods.
Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in quantity surveying software, contract management tools, and MS Office.
In-depth understanding of construction contracts, procurement processes, and industry regulations.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
ResponsibilitiesCost Estimation and Budgeting:
Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for construction projects, including materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor expenses.
Conduct feasibility studies to ensure the financial viability of projects.
Monitor and control project costs to ensure adherence to the budget, and report any variances to senior management.
Contract Management:
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Manage the procurement process, including the preparation of tender documents and evaluation of bids.
Ensure that all contractual obligations are met and that project contracts are executed in line with legal and regulatory requirements.
Valuations and Payments:
Conduct regular site visits to assess work progress and prepare interim valuations for payment to subcontractors and suppliers.
Measure and value completed work, ensuring accuracy in the quantification of labour and materials.
Prepare and submit final accounts, reconciling any discrepancies between initial estimates and actual costs.
Risk Management and Compliance:
Identify potential risks related to project costs, contracts, and schedules, and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
Ensure compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and safety standards in all project-related activities.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of construction law, contract law, and best practices in quantity surveying.
Reporting and Documentation:
Prepare and present detailed financial reports to project stakeholders, providing insights into cost performance and areas for improvement.
Maintain accurate records of all project costs, valuations, and contractual correspondence.
Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients to ensure transparency and alignment on project goals and financials.
Value Engineering:
Analyse project designs and specifications to identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or performance.
Recommend alternative materials, methods, or processes that can deliver better value for the project.
