Quantity Surveyor

Job Description

The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all cost-related aspects of construction projects--from initial estimation to final account. The role ensures projects are completed within budget, comply with contractual requirements, and achieve financial targets.

Key Responsibilities



1. Cost Estimation & Tendering



Prepare

cost estimates

,

bill of quantities (BQ)

, and

tender documents

. Analyze tender drawings, specifications, and requirements. Request and evaluate

quotations from subcontractors & suppliers

. Assist in tender submission and pricing strategies.

2. Contract Management



Prepare and review

contracts, LOAs, subcontracts

. Ensure contract terms comply with company policies and client requirements. Monitor contractual obligations and variations.

3. Cost Control & Budget Monitoring



Track project expenditure against budget. Prepare

cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and financial summaries

. Identify cost-saving opportunities and highlight potential risks.

4. Measurement & Valuation



Conduct

site measurements

and verify work done. Prepare

progress claims

to clients and evaluate subcontractor claims. Manage

variation orders (VO)

: prepare, submit, negotiate, and finalize.

5. Procurement



Source and evaluate suppliers/subcontractors. Negotiate prices and contractual terms. Finalize procurement based on budget and technical requirements.

6. Project Coordination



Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and Site Team. Attend site meetings on progress, cost, and contractual issues. Provide commercial support throughout project life cycle.

7. Final Account



Prepare and settle

with client and subcontractors. Ensure all documentation is complete, accurate, and submitted on time.

Required Skills & Competencies



Strong knowledge of

contract laws, construction materials, and costing

. Proficient in

BQ preparation

, estimation, and measurement. High proficiency in

Microsoft Excel

, AutoCAD (optional), and QS software. Good negotiation, analytical, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.

Qualifications



Diploma/Bachelor's Degree in

Quantity Surveying

, Construction Management, or related field. 2-3 years experience

Working Conditions



Office-based with frequent

site visits

. Must be able to travel to various project locations.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: RM2,500.00 - RM3,200.00 per month
