GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION
R&D Engineer involves in process and equipment design for process optimization or productivity improvement
purposes. He/she executes trials on pilot line to support new products (NPD) as well as process optimization
initiatives with supervision from Manager in accordance to project time frame, budget allocations, and ensure
compliance to QMS and design and development control procedures. He/she shall manage the pilot line and
work closely with other module chemists / project leader on the daily operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES & SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. To plan and schedule the engineering work for maintaining the pilot line in good operating condition.
2. To check and ensure that all spares necessary for ef ficient maintenance of the pilot line are kept to an
optimum level.
3. To support all trials on pilot line and work closely with other modules in product / process design verification
activities.
4. Responsible for the safe working condition of the pilot line, the safety of himself and people working at the
pilot line.
5. Collaborates and liaise with equipment supplier to support trials on pilot line; procure supplies from suppliers
as per company QMS requirements.
6. Engages in hands-on experiments, to provide support where appropriate; supervises, coaches and provides
training as necessary to pilot line technicians and trainees in their daily operations.
7. Compiles and records all information and test/trial results and maintain laboratory notebooks; analyses
results, prepare reports and/or review reports and data analysis of team members and arrive at conclusions
and make recommendations for next steps; recognizes potential problems and recommend directions and
preventive solutions.
8. Acquires knowledge and keeps up to date with the developments in the field of glove technology for job performance and personal improvement; identifies, proposes and evaluates innovative ideas/materials/chemicals/ processes for new product and process development; writes or publishes reports and findings and present as appropriate to internal as well as to external parties (outside of R&D) as appropriate; drafts / publishes technical papers / presentations / invention disclosures / patent filings with supervision from superior.
9. Follows Safety, Health and Environmental aspects and plays supervisory role in ensuring compliance in the workgroup and R&D; correctly implements the Quality Systems including DDC adopted by R&D and Ansell and ensures compliance within workgroup; plays active role in QMS and regulatory requirements related to work area as well as identify best practices for R&D.
10. Maintains a high level of housekeeping in the pilot line area at all times and procure chemicals and supplies as required; protects confidentiality of information related to work within the company such that no unauthorized person can gain access.

KEY POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education
Minimum degree in mechanical / electrical / mechatronics / instrumentation engineering or its equivalent.
Job Experience
Preferably 1 - 2 years working experience in natural / synthetic rubber or relevant industry in areas of manufacturing environment.
Technical Competencies
1. Possess foundation level knowledge of glove dipping processes.
2. Able to handle the practical and fundamentals of latex, polymer and/or product technology.
3. Possess good knowledge on product defectives and quality.
4. Possess knowledge in programming language machine operation.
5. Possess knowledge in analytical techniques, good knowledge in relevant computer software such as SPC software etc.
6. Proficient in Six Sigma Principles, good knowledge in relevant computer software such as Minitab software etc.
7. Has ability to use Design of Experiment principles.
8. Has good understanding of safety, health and environment practices, good manufacturing practice and is competent in handling of dipping machine to carry out daily work.
9. Good work & time management skills and applies good project management skills.
10. Competent in systematic and statistical data analysis, as well as presentation of results.
11. Good understanding of Quality Systems, in particular for ISO 13485.

2. Good written and spoken English and ability to communicate in a language other than English and Malay or a foreign language will be an added advantage.
3. Advanced computer literacy, able to present using Power Point, Microsoft Word and Excel.
