The Role: Research Analyst, Power & Renewables

The Impact: S&P global commodities have successfully expanded Asia power and renewables practice and are committed to further enhancing the coverage through the implementation of a streamlined project data tracking system. The research analyst will play a pivotal role in our fast-growing APAC team, helping develop and maintain the system and to provide effective support for the cross-business line Global Power & Renewables offering.

What\'s in it for you: The Research Analyst will be an important member of our power and renewable project tracking team, working closely with research teams in the region and globally to ensure data quality and consistency and conduct analysis on industry trends. The team is operating in a highly dynamic environment, and we provide excellent learning and development opportunities for young talent.

Responsibilities:

1. The Research Analyst will be conducting desktop research for power generation projects in the region, including thermal power (coal, gas, oil), hydro, nuclear, wind, solar, biomass, energy storage, among others.

2. Data collection would include the following aspects:

\xc2\xb7 Power and renewables generation project data, including information such as project name, generation capacity, equipment, ownership, shareholders, online year, etc.

\xc2\xb7 Cross-database data validation and quality control.

\xc2\xb7 Multi-lingual data source check.

\xc2\xb7 Support regional analysts for quantitative analysis and report writing.

3. The Research Analyst will also be responsible to liaise with other data teams to ensure consistent messages are delivered.

What We\'re Looking For:

\xc2\xb7 An undergraduate degree in a science, engineering, economics or other quantitative field.

\xc2\xb7 Aptitude for statistical analysis.

\xc2\xb7 Keen attention to detail.

\xc2\xb7 Excellent English communication (reading / writing / speaking) skills

\xc2\xb7 A strong interest in the energy sector.

\xc2\xb7 Strong team players that can work across geographies and time zones.

\xc2\xb7 Primary research / journalistic skills including ability to cold-call developers and ask questions are plus.
