Job Description

Job Purpose :



To lead research and development initiatives for new product development, existing product improvement, recipe optimization and innovation projects while ensuring technical feasibility, market viability, profitability and regulatory compliance of all R&D activities.

Roles & Responsibilities :



Lead new product development projects from concept to commercialization. Conduct market research and analyze consumer trends in sauce and condiment categories. Develop new recipes and formulations for chili sauces and ketchup varieties. Optimize existing product formulations for cost reduction and quality improvement. Conduct sensory evaluations and consumer testing for product development. Collaborate with Production Manager to scale up recipes from lab to production. Work with QA/QC Manager to establish specifications for new products. Manage pilot plant operations and conduct production trials. Evaluate new ingredients, suppliers, and processing technologies. Support marketing team with technical information and product positioning. Conduct competitive product analysis and benchmarking studies. Develop product documentation including specifications, process parameters, and quality standards. Manage R&D budget and prioritize development projects based on business objectives. Protect intellectual property through patent applications and trade secret protocols. Support regulatory compliance for new product launches. Mentor executive or junior R&D staff and coordinate external research partnerships.

Requirements :



Master's degree or Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, or related field preferred. Minimum 7-10 years' experience in food product development, preferably in sauces/condiments. Strong knowledge of food chemistry, flavor development, and processing technologies. Experience with sensory evaluation techniques and consumer research methods. Understanding of food regulations, labelling requirements, and nutritional analysis. Knowledge of ingredient functionality and food additive applications. Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Creative thinking and innovation capabilities. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Leadership and team management experience. Understanding of cost analysis and product profitability. Knowledge of packaging materials and their interaction with food products. Familiarity with scale-up principles from laboratory to commercial production.

Pay: RM3,191.43 - RM5,500.00 per month
