Safety & Health Officer (Batu Kawan)

Job Function:

• Ensures contractor / contractor management company are abiding to:
  • LAM company standards,
  • Local regulatory requirements,
  • Contract requirements,
  • Contractor safety management plan.
• Conducts daily safety walks with contractor and contractor management company. Identifies safety hazards, ensures corrective actions are implemented and verified, ensures casual factors are not repeated.
• Attends weekly safety and project management meetings. Reports safety compliance status, metrics, etc. to GWS project managers and Lam EHS Manager
• Attends 2x/week SIPP meeting.
• As Safety Coordinator who can support the safety at site for all misc. GWS projects in LMM including those small extension in cleanroom, OSW & general area. Your scope includes the safety supervision of repair activities by main contractors, etc. and experienced with M&E utility services extension projects will be added advantage.

Specific Tasks & Deliverables:

• Prepares weekly summary safety report.
• Verifies work safety training status on a weekly basis
• Reviews environmental, safety and health risk assessments
• Conducts daily site walks and inspections
• Conducts safety walks with contractor and contractor management company.
• Attends daily toolbox meetings.
• Reviews the work tasks in the contractor safety management plan the night before for the next day, to verify protocols are in full compliance.
• Organize weekly safety meetings with contractors.
• Attend weekly project meetings and raise up EHS concerns with effective control measures taken promptly by main contractor.
• Coordinate with GWS Project Manager on local EHS compliance
  • Determine equipment which need certificate of fitness and ensure the Certificate of fitness is obtained for Unfired Pressure Vessels, hoisting equipment, etc as per DOSH requirement
  • Determine equipment which need approval from local authorities, e.g DOE or BOMBA
  • Obtain equipment and fixtures information and submit general equipment listing with electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic energy example Dock Leveler, auto-store, utilities in CUB, etc,to DOSH
• Project commissioning phase
  • Safety assessment and safety buy off for equipment and fixtures prior release for use.
  • SL1 and/or Safety SL2 whenever is applicable.
  • Site Incident Prevention Plan (SIPP) implementation for contractors
• EHS Training, Awareness and Competency
  • Conduct EHS training whenever is required. Ensure all users are well trained and aware of the hazards, risks and safety control measures.
  • Implement EHS Control Measures to prevent incidents and compliance to local EHS legal requirement.
  • Participate in Emergency Preparedness and Response whenever is required.

Qualification:
Bachelor\'s Degree/Diploma in Engineering or Environmental, Occupational health & safety or comparable scientific discipline


EHS Certification:
SHO certification registration with DOSH & Green Book Holder


Experience:

• 5-8 years of working experience in EHS field in construction, renovation activities
• Experience in new start-up or expansion project
• Construction and Contractors Safety experience with an injury-free mindset
• Coordinate with Local EHS authorities for approval on PTI, PTO, permits, certificate of fitness, etc
• Well verse with CIDB requirement

• Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to motivate, influence, coach and drive results
• Ability to apply EHS standards and regulatory knowledge to business decisions
• Ability to lead a cross-functional teams to meet EHS objectives and accident free workplace
• Strong computer literacy skills including mastery knowledge of Microsoft suite (excel, word, power-point) skills;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to influence and drive message on complex content, in front of peers.
