Take overall responsibility for safety and health management at the construction site to ensure compliance with Malaysian laws, regulations, and company EHS policies.
Develop, implement, and maintain safety and health management systems, policies, and procedures, with regular review and improvement.
Effectively communicate EHS policies and procedures to employees, subcontractors, and relevant parties to raise safety awareness.
Liaise with government and regulatory authorities (e.g., DOSH, NIOSH, DOE, BOMBA, MOH, JKJR, JKKP) to ensure statutory compliance.
Lead site safety inspections, HSSE walkabouts, and risk assessments (HIRARC, Job Hazard Analysis), identify hazards, and recommend corrective/preventive actions.
Ensure subcontractors strictly comply with the company's Safety Management System and their contractual safety commitments.
Ensure the proper maintenance and correct use of all safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Act as the main controller for Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and hazardous materials management.
Review construction drawings and ensure a thorough understanding of building construction from a safety perspective.
Supervise the safety aspects of scaffolding, machinery, and equipment, liaising with JKKP where necessary.
Conduct safety meetings, training sessions, and emergency drills, and maintain accurate records.
Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near-misses; prepare detailed reports with findings and recommendations; and implement countermeasures to prevent recurrence.
Enforce compliance with the company's EHS policies and take disciplinary action against violations where necessary.
Keep updated with the latest regulations and maintain accurate safety and health documentation.
Carry out other EHS-related duties assigned by management from time to time.
Qualifications:
Possess at least a bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related fields.
Must have a valid DOSH Green Book / Yellow Book (SHO/SSS)
Minimum 2 years of EHS management experience in the Malaysian construction industry.
Strong oral and written communication skills, particularly in English and Malay, with Mandarin being an added advantage.
Advantage: Possession of NEBOSH certification or a related degree.
