A Sales Engineer specializing in busduct systems in Malaysia is responsible for a blend of technical support and sales strategy to drive business growth. The role involves working closely with clients to understand their electrical power distribution needs and providing expert knowledge on the company's busduct products, from initial inquiries to after-sales service.
Core duties and responsibilities
Business development:
Generate new leads, expand the customer database, and identify new market opportunities, particularly within the construction and industrial sectors.
Sales strategy:
Develop and execute strategic sales plans and tactics to achieve or exceed sales targets, while monitoring market trends and competitor activities.
Client management:
Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with key customers, consultants, and contractors to ensure customer satisfaction and secure recurring business.
Technical support:
Deliver technical sales presentations and demonstrations to explain busduct products and systems to prospective clients. Assist clients with system requirements, provide technical advice, and help solve problems with installed equipment.
Project coordination:
Work with internal teams, including design, engineering, and project management, to ensure smooth project execution, from tendering to after-sales service.
Reporting:
Maintain updated customer and sales activity records and provide regular sales reports to management.
After-sales service:
Coordinate and provide excellent after-sales support, which may include supervising installation, testing, and commissioning activities on-site.
Requirements and qualifications
Education:
A bachelor's degree or diploma in Electrical & Electronic, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is typically required.
Experience:
Most employers seek at least 1-3 years of relevant experience in technical sales, project sales, or the electrical/construction industry. Fresh graduates with the right aptitude may also be considered.
Technical knowledge:
In-depth knowledge of busduct systems, power distribution, and low-voltage electrical systems is essential.
Communication skills:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are critical for building relationships and explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Problem-solving abilities:
The ability to analyse customer needs and recommend appropriate solutions is a key part of the role.
