Senior Character Artist We are looking for an exceptional Senior Character Artist to join our team, ensuring the visual fidelity of our console and PC titles. In this role, you will collaborate with Character leads and Art Directors across EA Sports and Racing franchises, taking a significant part in mentorship and leadership within the creative process. Your established expertise in character production and your comprehensive knowledge of the gaming landscape are crucial. You will produce characters for EA Sports titles while helping the team in achieving their goals. With your deep understanding of human anatomy, you will ensure the characters are brought to life with stunning realism. Balancing your time between artistic production and team guidance, your contribution will be vital in realizing the games\' creative visions and meeting our production milestones. Your Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with Art Directors, Producers, Technical Artists, and Engineers to execute the envisioned art style and drive project completion.
  • Optimize workflows, troubleshoot technical issues, and generate comprehensive documentation to support the character art pipeline.
  • Realize character concepts into fully fleshed out 3D assets, ready for animation and integration.
  • Oversee and direct both internal and external character art teams, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
  • Guide and mentor new artists, fostering their technical and artistic growth within the team.
  • Conduct art reviews, providing constructive feedback and critiques to enhance team performance and art quality.
  • Establish and uphold quality standards and stylistic consistency for all character art within the game.
  • Guarantee that all character assets meet the high-quality bar for final game delivery, liaising with other departments as necessary.
  • Execute high-level modeling, texturing, and sculpting tasks, showcasing exceptional skill in creating detailed and lifelike character art.
Your Experience Requirements:
  • 8+ years\' experience in modeling and character art, with a focus on realistic character art. Please provide a link to your portfolio on the resume.
  • Proficient with Maya, 3ds Max, Photoshop, ZBrush, Substance Painter, and Marvelous Designer.
  • A history of effective collaboration within diverse teams, including technical artists, artists, engineers, and riggers.
  • Up-to-date with the latest industry-standard tools, workflows, and techniques.
  • Expert knowledge of human anatomy, clothing construction (wrinkle behavior), proportion, silhouette, and topology as it relates to modeling, texturing, and shading.
  • Understanding of how rigging, animation, facial animation, and blend shapes can affect character models.
  • Experienced in presenting art direction and conducting art reviews within the team.
  • Excellent skill in converting 2D reference materials and scan data into 3D textured and surfaced models.
  • Adept at documenting workflows for team use.
  • Ability to lead and share best practices with team artists, nurturing a positive team culture.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently without the need for constant oversight.
