Achieving resolution for database system outages within defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Ensure proper DB capacity management/data growth and threshold alerts are automated.
Responsible for creating primary database storage structures (database areas and tablespaces), once application developers have designed/purchased an approved application.
Ensure databases have routine maintenance performed on them (e.g. database reorganization, update statistics etc.)
Assist developers in optimizing their applications, queries, etc.
Maintenance of disk and tape backup The DBA is responsible for planning for backup and recovery of the databases. The DBA will not have responsibility for the actual physical backup or physical retention of that information.
Support and troubleshoot problems associated with database and resource allocation conflicts including problem resolution.
The DBA will act as a liaison between client and Oracle Corporation for technical support, upgrades, bug fixes, problem resolution, etc. as necessary.
The DBA is responsible for allocating system storage and planning for future storage requirements for the database systems.

Lead projects to be executed successfully on schedule , within budget and with the allocated resources
Produce reports and updates of project status

Installing and Upgrading
Responsible for installing and upgrading the database and related tools
Examines new releases of systems and database software, understand the features offered and the stability of the release and recommend further action
Coordinating with developers for pre-release testing of production systems
Responsible for insuring the Bank is in compliance with the database license agreement.
System Setup and Database Creation
Responsible for setting up database, Instamces in development, QA and production environment
Monitoring the Database Health and Tuning Accordingly
Ensure the database is running with optimal performance
Ensure the database is properly configured with the correct amount of memory and set with proper configuration parameters
Ensure the error log or event log is monitored for database errors
Proper Utilization of Storage
Making sure the databases are correctly setup, monitoring space requirements and adding new storage when required
Backup and Recovery
Establishing standards and schedules for database backups and ensure recovery procedures are adhered
Developing and periodic testing of recovery procedures for each database
Monitoring success of backup
Manage Database User and Security
Assist security administrator in initial setting up the user\xe2\x80\x99s database login id and determining the proper security level for each user
Troubleshoot and Problem resolution

Database Objects
Responsible for maintaining the logical and physical definition of the database and ensure proper migration from development, QA and production environments The DBA is responsible for the design, creation, and structural integrity of all ORACLE database objects in the production environment that are used for official business purposes. This includes tables, views, indexes, sequences, etc. from approved information given by application developers or vendors of purchased systems.
Issue a yearly capacity plan, monitor workload forecast against actual usage
Manage the selection, provision and use of database architecture and software.
Ensuring efficient tuning of system parameters are explored
Collaborating with the necessary parties if tuning required to work with the DBMS
Review capabilities of interfacing with any other technologies required by database applications

Requirements
Minimum 5 years of Database Administration on Mid Range/Wintel Databases. Knowledge on Mainframe Databases will be advantageous.
Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in any discipline - Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in IT.
Diploma in IT - Minimum of 7 years relevant experience in IT.
Professional DBMS certification is advantageous.
Good knowledge on Oracle Database Administration Installation, upgrade, patches \xc2\xb7 Database performance tuning. \xc2\xb7 Backup & Recovery.
Automation of monitoring & alerts generation.
Experience on Disaster Recovery.
Knowledge on Cluster setup such as Oracle RAC, HACMP, Veritas Cluster and Windows cluster.
Knowledge on DB replication such as Dataguard, Goldengate & Disks Replication.
