About the role
Possess developed/higher level of design engineering expertise and assume greater responsibility for ensuring the development of robust and manufacturable designs.
Leveraging your extensive knowledge and skills, Senior Design Engineers tackle complex problems while coaching and guiding less experienced engineers to ensure high-quality output.
As key team members, you exhibit independent thinking and action, while also demonstrating the ability to escalate issues when necessary.
Have a clear understanding of the problem at hand and specify the design requirements with clear, specific, and measurable objectives.
Robustly plan and prioritize tasks based on risk level, resolution, maturity, and interdependency of tasks. Monitor progress in line with the established plan, and proactively respond or escalate issues when required.
Generate a range of design concepts and systematically evaluating each concept against the design requirements to identify the optimal solution.
Conduct thorough tolerance analysis to identify and quantify the impact of various sources of variability on the design. Ensure the final design can operate with acceptable performance at the production limits of the design parts.
Identify potential risks associated with the design and develop strategies to mitigate or eliminate those risks. Work closely with cross functional team to conduct thorough risk assessments and use risk management tools to evaluate and prioritize risks.
Create detailed design specifications, including Engineering Bill of Materials, 3D models, CAD drawings, and technical specifications.
Continuously improve product quality, reduce costs, increase production throughput, and evaluate potential alternative suppliers or contract manufactures.
Build mock-up or hand prototype to prove concept or design scheme.
Build functional prototypes/rigs to evaluate the feasibility, usability, and functionality of the design.
Collaborate with manufacturing teams to assess and buy off the build process to ensure the design can be efficiently produced while maintaining quality standards.
Design and conduct investigative tests to identify design risks and determine the functional limits.
Collaborate with testing team to evaluate the product\'s functionality, reliability, and durability under various conditions.
Collaborate with quality team to gather feedback from potential users to assess the product\'s usability, ergonomics, and overall user satisfaction.
Investigate identified problems to uncover underlying causes and recommend appropriate actions to resolve problems and prevent recurrence.
Prepare for design or technical reviews and participate in as required. Present the problem, proposed solution, risks and opportunities with clarity and precision.
Prepare and submit a Change Request for approval by relevant stakeholders if design modifications are necessary.
Review and evaluate supplier documents for part approval or Deviation Request.
Lead or contribute to team, department or functional level change projects as needed, supporting efforts to enhance organizational efficiency or develop new capabilities.
Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that the design is optimized for assembly, manufacturing, and cost.
