Lendlease is currently seeking an experienced, Senior Design Manager to join our high performing delivery team in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The Senior Design Manager is responsible for overseeing the authority\xe2\x80\x99s submission and guidelines, managing authorities\' approvals, design process, ensuring the quality and accuracy of design deliverables, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and coordinating with cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading the design team and provide support, facilitate and guidance throughout the design process.
  • Develop and implement design strategies and standards to meet project goals and comply with regulations and guidelines.
  • Liaise with consultant and relevant authorities and agencies to understand and navigate regulatory requirements and obtain necessary permits and approvals.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders, architects, engineers, and other teams to ensure alignment with design intent and regulatory standards.
  • Review and approve design documentation, ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
  • Coordinate with consultants for all submission and approval processes with local and international regulatory bodies, ensuring all required permissions are obtained.
  • Keep updated on changes in local and international regulations and codes affecting the design process and make necessary adjustments to ensure compliance.
  • Manage design timelines and work with consultant team to effectively meet project milestones and deadlines.
  • Coordinate with project managers to ensure seamless integration of design phases into overall project timelines and objectives.
  • Conduct design reviews, workshops and offer feedback to consultant teams for continuous improvement and overall design quality.
  • Identify design-related risks and implement strategies to mitigate them, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality designs within budget and scope.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to enhance the design process.
Specific Project Roles:
  • Act as a point of contact for authorities and agencies related queries and issues.
  • Map out responsibility matrix for the authority\xe2\x80\x99s matter between the client, consultants, and project team.
  • Establish communication channel and engagement with local authorities.
  • Provide authority\xe2\x80\x99s fees and payment tracker.
  • Manage the design process and framework for the project.
  • Undertake design review process with SME in Lesson Learnt workshop and finalisation of design options for client approval.
  • Identify design options / mitigation strategy in Safety in Design review.
  • Administer Gateway certification and update project brief.
  • Analyse the project brief update against project principal requirements (PPR)
Requirements:
  • Recognised Degree in Building, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related disciplines
  • Data Centre sector experience with min. 10 years of design and construction work experience in a design management, project management or construction management position.
  • Knowledge of capital projects within Data Centre industry including an understanding of GMP practices, estimating, scheduling, field supervision, contracts administration, procurement, financial controls, and reporting.
  • Project Management: Proficiency in overseeing the entire project lifecycle, from conception to completion, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of Construction design principles, regulations, and the latest industry trends, with the ability to provide technical guidance.
