Job Summary

The Senior Engineer, Design (Electrical) is responsible for leading and delivering advanced electrical engineering design solutions for Large Scale Solar (LSS) projects. This role involves preparing, reviewing, and validating electrical designs to ensure compliance with statutory requirements, industry standards, and project specifications. The position requires strong technical expertise in solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, grid interconnection, and high-voltage (HV) infrastructure to support the successful execution of Cypark's renewable energy projects.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design & Engineering

Develop and review electrical designs, drawings, and specifications for LSS projects, including PV array layout, DC/AC system sizing, inverters, transformers, and balance of plant (BOP). Prepare and validate Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), protection schemes, grounding systems, and cable routing plans. Conduct electrical load flow, short-circuit, and protection coordination studies. Ensure designs comply with Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) requirements, Grid Code, IEC, MS, and other relevant standards. Integrate Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and other hybrid systems where applicable.
2. Project Support & Coordination

Provide technical input during project development, feasibility studies, tender evaluations, and EPC contractor selection. Collaborate with C&S, Mechanical, and Project Management teams to ensure cohesive and integrated project delivery. Support site teams during construction, testing, and commissioning phases to resolve design-related issues. Review and approve EPC/consultant design submissions and shop drawings.
3. Compliance & Documentation

Prepare technical reports, design justifications, and engineering documentation for internal and external stakeholders. Ensure strict compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards. Maintain accurate and up-to-date design documentation and drawings for audit and reference purposes.
4. Leadership & Mentoring

Provide guidance and technical mentorship to junior engineers and design team members. Promote a culture of innovation, quality, and continuous improvement in electrical design practices.

Requirements

Education

: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. Professional Engineer (Ir.) certification with BEM is an added advantage.

Experience

: Minimum 7-10 years of experience in electrical design, with at least 5 years in renewable energy or Large Scale Solar (LSS) projects.

Technical Competence

: Strong knowledge of solar PV system design, HV/LV electrical systems, and substation design. Proficiency in design and simulation software (ETAP, PVSyst, AutoCAD, etc.). Familiarity with Malaysian Grid Code, Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) licensing, and utility interconnection processes.

Skills

: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills with excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Other

: Willingness to travel to project sites as required.

Pay: RM4,500.00 - RM6,000.00 per month
