  • To conduct detailed power system studies, including load flow analysis, short-circuit analysis, and transient behavior simulations for interconnection projects into the Sarawak grid system. i.e.: mini/micro-grids, neighboring utilities such as Brunei, Sabah, Semenanjung Malaysia, Singapore, North Kalimantan, and other potential cross-border power exchange studies.
  • To ensure the interconnectors, and compliance with Sarawak grid codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • To evaluate the impact of the integrated interconnection on grid performance, stability, adequacy, and operational reliability and identify necessary transmission network expansion plans, and produce cost estimations based on study findings.
  • To assist in coordinating with external and internal stakeholders for the alignment of the interconnection projects with Sarawak Energy's business objectives.
  • To stay updated on advancements in grid interconnection technologies and methodologies such as HVDC systems.
  • To assist in Transmission Master Plan studies on the Sarawak Grid System, management papers, and other document submissions.

  • Analytical Skills - The job requires significant analytical skills related to power system simulations, technical planning, and troubleshooting.
  • Building effective teams - Blends people into teams, fosters team spirits and collaboration within team and capitalizes on the strengths of all members.
  • Decision making - Ensures that decisions are made based on good engineering judgment as well as ethics and values of the organization in a timely manner.
  • Financial analysis - Although technical, this job requires certain knowledge of financial analysis.
QUALIFICATION & WORK EXPERIENCE:
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or related degree.
  • Having an MSc/Meng in a related field and Professional Engineer is an added advantage.
  • Minimum 6-8 years of relevant experience. Experience in the electrical utility or similar industry is essential.
  • Experience in power system analysis, network planning, power flow, short circuit, and transient stability analysis.
Preference will be given to internal candidate.
