JOB SUMMARY

Senior Engineer, Operation & Maintenance is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of Cypark's renewable energy assets, primarily Large Scale Solar (LSS) plants and other electrical-based facilities. The role focuses on electrical system performance, preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and compliance with regulatory requirements. This position requires a strong background in electrical engineering, hands-on technical expertise, and the ability to coordinate with site teams, contractors, and authorities to achieve optimal plant availability and performance.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operation & Monitoring

Monitor daily plant operations, ensuring optimal performance of solar PV systems, inverters, transformers, and switchgear. Conduct routine inspections, identify system abnormalities, and initiate corrective actions. Analyze electrical performance data, identify trends, and recommend improvements to maximize efficiency. Support SCADA monitoring and reporting of plant KPIs.
2. Preventive & Corrective Maintenance

Plan and execute preventive maintenance schedules for electrical equipment (inverters, HV/LV switchgear, transformers, cables, protection systems). Perform corrective maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical faults to minimize downtime. Supervise contractors/vendors during maintenance works, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and spare parts inventory.
3. Compliance & Safety

Ensure compliance with Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST), Energy Commission regulations, and local authority requirements. Implement and enforce electrical safety procedures, lock-out/tag-out (LOTO), and safe work practices. Support audits, inspections, and reporting required by regulatory bodies.
4. Documentation & Reporting

Prepare technical reports, incident reports, and daily/weekly/monthly O&M performance reports. Update and maintain documentation including electrical drawings, maintenance logs, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Assist in preparing reports for management and stakeholders on plant performance, downtime, and corrective actions.
5. Continuous Improvement

Recommend upgrades, modifications, and innovative solutions to improve plant reliability and reduce maintenance costs. Participate in training and skill development programs to enhance technical competencies. Support knowledge transfer and provide guidance to technicians and junior engineers.
Requirements

Education

: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. Registered with BEM is an added advantage.

Experience

: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in electrical O&M, preferably in renewable energy (preferable Solar)

Technical Competence

: Strong knowledge of solar PV systems, HV/LV switchgear, inverters, transformers, and protection systems. Familiarity with SCADA systems and plant monitoring tools. Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical faults and using diagnostic instruments.

Skills

: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, good communication, and teamwork skills.

Other

: Willingness to work on-site at plant locations, travel when required, and perform on-call duty for emergencies.
