Job Scope
The following duties are not exclusive and certain items require delegation as a whole or in part to be adequately fulfilled.
Lead the design, simulation, and analysis of various power electronic converters (e.g., ACor DC, DC or DC, DC or AC inverters, resonant converters).
Develop detailed system architectures, schematics, and PCB layouts, ensuring compliance with performance, cost, and reliability targets.
Perform advanced magnetics design for inductors and transformers. Select and characterize power semiconductor devices (e.g., SiC, GaN MOSFETs, IGBTs, Diodes).
Design and implement control algorithms for power converters, including digital control using microcontrollers or DSPs.
Conduct comprehensive worst-case analysis, FMEAs, and reliability predictions. Develop and execute test plans, including hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, and perform thorough validation and verification of prototypes.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware and software issues during the development and testing phases.
Collaborate closely with mechanical engineers for thermal management solutions, firmware engineers for control implementation, and manufacturing teams for design for manufacturability (DFM) and test (DFT).
Stay abreast of the latest advancements in power electronics technologies, industry trends, and relevant standards (e.g., IEC, UL, IEEE). Prepare detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and manufacturing instructions.
Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
Requirement
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related field.
Preferred at least 7 years of progressive experience in power electronics design and development.
Proven expertise in the design and analysis of various power converter topologies (e.g., buck, boost, half-bridge, full-bridge, LLC, resonant converters).
Strong understanding of power semiconductor devices and their applications. Proficiency in power electronics simulation tools (e.g., SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink) and know-how in using instruments like multimeters, power supplies, oscilloscopes, etc.
Hands-on experience in building prototypes (e.g., soldering and breadboarding), and with PCB design tools.
Experience with embedded control systems (e.g., microcontrollers, DSPs). Solid understanding of thermal management techniques for power electronics.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
