Job Description


Job Purpose External Communications Responsible for supporting activities to safeguard and enhance the company\'s corporate reputation through external communications. Work closely with management to promote consistent messaging for a diverse range of audiences, maintaining positive relationships with media and other key stakeholders, as well as lead efforts to elevate brand reputation, among others. Scope includes supporting roles in external communications activities which includes digital & social communications, and issues management, among others. Scope also includes supporting management in various tasks including press release & content development, media monitoring & sentiment analysis, media briefing sessions, interviews & pitches, as well as the management reporting responsibilities for the unit. Activities managed by the unit is to ensure reputational risk is proactively identified, mitigated, and addressed to always safeguard the brand image and reputation. He/She will support management across different departments in resolving crisis and issues affecting the business and its operations. He/She will be assigned by HOD/HOU to provide services to other internal stakeholders on editorial & publications works (external content, including Annual Report) as and when required or assigned by HOD. He/She will also be selectively involved in non-core assignments and projects whenever a need arises. Expected to possess good organisational skills, language proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia, relevant experience in developing proposals/factsheets/publications to support/organise stakeholder engagement events/programmes, experience in media and capable of managing multiple tasks/projects under minimal supervision. Internal Communications Responsible for supporting the department and unit\'s objectives in reputation management activities related to internal communications. The internal communications unit is a critical function to support the Company\'s Business Continuity Management procedures. Expected to oversee the implementation of multi-channel integrated & digital communications, virtual & physical engagement events coordination, and administration of channels and internal publications, among others. He/She will be supporting other internal stakeholders with responsibilities in employer branding and employee engagement activities, such as HR, IT, HSE and marketing, among others in support of meeting corporate objectives. Expected to possess basic editorial capabilities, content creation skills and digital platform content management system knowledge to perform adequately in this role. Expected to have a flair for writing in both creative and factual capacities, as well as the ability to draft senior leadership communication draft documents. Job Responsibilities Strategic Communications Management Support HOD & HOU to implement activities listed in the annual strategic communications and media engagement plan. The annual strategic communications plan is to be proactively maintained to support business development, strategies, goals, and objectives, as well as detailing tactical activities with impactful action plans to protect and promote the correct brand positioning. Objective is to achieve annual PR value targets as per scorecard. Crisis Response & Issues Management (+ Business Continuity Management) Supporting role in crisis response & issues management activities, working closely with related stakeholders to ensure strategic and positive outcomes to safeguard and enhance the company\'s brand, image, and reputation. Daily Media Monitoring & PR Value Tracking Support HOU to oversee daily media monitoring function and provide daily updates to management as and when required. Proactively engage with monitoring agencies to ensure timely and accurate details in each report. Maintain proper archiving of reports for posterity and accurate PR value at all times. Corporate Media Relations Management Support HOU to manage and enhance relationships with the media through impactful activities such as media engagements and briefing sessions, exclusive interviews, appreciation events, festive engagements, and the like to strategically maintain and enhance media relations. Involved in providing advisory and support to internal stakeholders and project teams on media related matters. Media & External Communications Content Development & Release Support HOU in end-to-end drafting and distribution of press releases, branded content, and other external communications content. Tasks include drafting, version control management, fact checking and inter-department coordination, as well as translations. Also involved in drafting supporting documents (i.e., FAQs, talking points) for stakeholder engagement events, critical decision making and management responses. Key focus areas: Financials, sustainability, ESG, safety, people Agency Management Support HOU to manage relationships with all agencies appointed to support unit\'s function, overseeing deliverables and ensure service agreements and objectives of agency appointment are achieved. Content Asset Management Maintain database and archive of media statements for efficient retrieval and immediate response when required. Support HOU to proactively manage data, visuals and copy across all internal and external engagement platforms, primarily corporate website (except marketing / product section), to ensure content is developed to project the brand in the right manner. Projects, Editorial & Publications Support Assigned by HOD/HOU to lead selected management approved projects (or parts of project), including for events and publications development (i.e., Annual Report, sustainability reports, launch events, etc.). Support & Execute Unit\'s Daily Operations Process announcement requests from across the Company. Involved in the production of content to support all internal communications channels and work together with other units to ensure message alignment and content harmonisation. Proper archive management for posterity. SharePoint Portal Administration Support HOU to manage the company SharePoint portal and its content. This includes promoting industry best practices and improvements to achieve objectives. Newsletter & Internal Publications Involved in the production of the Company\'s quarterly newsletter and other internal publications to support corporate objectives - i.e., COBC, handbooks, campaign / event brochures, etc. Digital Communications - Website, SharePoint Portal & Social Platforms Support HOU in managing content on digital platforms, primarily, portal, and social media, ensuring content is developed to project the brand in the right manner. Ensure activities are aligned with overall corporate communications strategies. To qualify for the role, you must have the qualifications, knowledge or skills listed below: Bachelor Degree with specialization on Corporate Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Corporate Affairs, Mass Communications Total Work Experience: Min 5 years, preferably in a large and listed multinational corporation ( 1,000 employees) or reputable media organisation / agency Total Relevant Experience: Min 2 years in Corporate Communications / Corporate Affairs / Public Relations / Journalism / Media (Corporate, Broadcast, Publishing) Skills / Knowledge/ Qualifications Microsoft Office Media Landscape Knowledge Stakeholder Relations Management / Multi-stakeholder Coordination Language, Editorial Works & Publications Development Integrated / Regulatory Reporting Business Sustainability / ESG / EES (or related frameworks) Risk Management Budget & Resource Management Project Management Interpersonal Skills If you confidently meet the criteria above, apply online and be part of our team at Sime Darby Property!
