1. KEY OBJECTIVES

  • Senior Geologist performs all geological and related studies such as basin analysis, facies, and geological modelling to support development drilling operation, field development and injection project for Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS). Advise on data acquisition programme, operation well mornitoring and analysis, including coring, logging, side-wall cores, and cuttings. Manage core and rock laboratory analysis. The jobholder performs and updates the Static models, and support in the reporting of resources and reserves. The jobholder also assists in the drilling plan and proposal and follows up until the work process of post-drill evaluation is completed. Evaluate and plan for Monitoring, Measurement and Verification (MMV) Plan for Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS).
2. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY
  • For 2023, the key work required to deliver (urgent requirement):
  • Support all geological studies for Lang Lebah FDP, including core/cutting analysis/studies, etc.
  • Update reservoir characterization for FDP, assist in the finalization of the FDP
  • Support LL-3 well operation and post-drill evaluation, liaise with other departments (e.g. post-drilled, budget, planning, etc.).
  • Support all geological studies for Lang Lebah CCS project
  • Support geological data acquisition requirement for MMV Plan for CCS project
  • Support in internal and external reviews for FDP/FID
  • Support in ARPR preparation and review
2.1 PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY
  • Perform all related geological studies, plan and manage studies by geological service contractors or in-house study team in a time and cost-efficient manner.
  • supervise laboratory works.
  • Perform detailed well targeting, data acquisition plan, all related programmes and conduct post-drill evaluation.
  • Well surveillance, monitoring of exploration and appraisal well including well-sitting if required.
  • Carry out basin analysis, facies description, and reservoir characterisation studies.
  • Perform and continuously update Geological models to support both for field development and storage development plans.
  • Review of Basin Analysis studies, and incorporate in the reservoir characterisation studies.
  • Contribute in the prospect evaluation in geological studies.
  • Identify and quantify geological/subsurface uncertainties that influence the technical and commercial robustness of the projects.
2.2 PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY
  • Initiate and follow up on geological related studies carried out internally or by external contractors.
  • Improve resource description and reservoir characterization through integration of subsurface data (logs, cores, seismic) and geological understanding of depositional environment of Southeast Asia region.
  • Supervise, coach and mentor junior staff.
  • Support, recommend and participate in planning internal and external work programs and participate in departmental annual budget planning.
  • Present proposal, results and give recommendations to team, Management, Partners, MPM and/or stakeholder.
  • Provide geological support in opportunity generation including planning, evaluation and / or execution of Full Field Review (FFR) or Field Development Plan (FDP) / appraisal or infill well programs / well work opportunities.
  • Prepare reports and documentation such as study results, post drill results, ADP / FDP to support the development study and execution
  • Perform annual resources and reserve assessment

As provided/assigned by Head of Lang Lebah Development Planning Department (PLD)

4. WORKING RELATIONSHIP

Internal: Project Managers, Project Engineers, Head of Development Project, Head of Engineering & Construction, Procurement department, Commercial department, Finance department.

External: Contractor\'s project management team, JV Partners, PETRONAS

5. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • 10 years\' experience in Geology or related areas with knowledge of geological modelling
  • Knowledge of basin analysis, reservoir characterization, and facies description
  • Able to manage integration of subsurface, wells, surface, and operation disciplines
  • Able to communicate, internally and externally, with diverse range of stakeholders from various disciplines
