Job Description

Our RoleThis position executes testing in our laboratories by safely and correctly using our lab equipment, completing the required experiments and processes to test the quality of Graymont finished products, core samples and other materials.Key focus areas the role will include:

• Perform required tests using Methods of Analyses found on myGraymont without supervision.
• Ensure all methods and procedures are followed for compliance to relevant Quality Standards for Laboratory (MS ISO 17025:2017 Accreditation)
• Assign samples to appropriate testing methods in accordance with Internal Testing Procedures (ITP).
• Conduct test result fault-finding to diagnose reasons behind deviant results (processes followed, errors etc).
• Perform intermediate to advanced troubleshooting for common problems and uncommon instrumentation problems without supervision.
• Perform and assist Lab Technicians/Lab Chemists to complete calibration and preventative maintenance duties as assigned without supervision.
• Safely and competently use required equipment and instrumentation without supervision.
• Can multi-task to enable flexibility in delivery of required work outputs.
• Participate in the process of lab method development and review.
• All employees are required to complete other responsibilities, tasks, training and development activities and participate in company programs as required by the Company.

• Samples correctly assigned to required test methods.
• Test errors diagnosed.
• Intermediate to advanced troubleshooting completed.
• Intermediate to advanced calibration and preventative maintenance duties completed.

• Flexible approach to work execution.

Ideally, the successful candidate will have the following attributes and qualifications:

• Degree in Chemistry (or equivalent) or other relevant tertiary qualifications.
• Completed competency-based assessments (tests, methods, calibrations, scientific error, rounding etc)
• 1-2 yearsxe2x80x99 experience in the lab.
• Can work without supervision, with some autonomy and intermittent guidance on complex tasks.
• Effective interpersonal and written communication skills.
• High level of attention to detail.
• Intermediate Microsoft Office experience.
