The Senior Lecturer in Restorative Dentistry is responsible for providing leadership in teaching, research, clinical supervision, and curriculum development within the Faculty of Dentistry, MAHSA University. The role involves mentoring junior staff, contributing to academic governance, and promoting excellence in restorative dental education and patient care in alignment with the university's mission and professional regulatory standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: Teaching and Learning
Plan, deliver, and evaluate lectures, tutorials, seminars, and clinical sessions in Restorative Dentistry and related disciplines.
Lead curriculum design, review, and enhancement to ensure alignment with professional standards (e.g., Malaysian Dental Council, MQA).
Develop and update teaching materials, assessments, and case-based learning content.
Supervise students in pre-clinical and clinical settings to ensure competence in restorative procedures and patient management.
Serve as a mentor and academic advisor to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Support and guide junior lecturers in effective teaching practices and student supervision.
Clinical Supervision and Patient Care
Oversee and supervise restorative clinical sessions, ensuring adherence to best practices, infection control, and patient safety standards.
Provide expert consultation and supervision in areas such as operative dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and aesthetic restorative care.
Contribute to improving the quality and efficiency of clinical training and patient care delivery.
Participate in clinical governance, audits, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Research and Scholarly Activity
Lead or participate in research projects related to Restorative Dentistry or dental education.
Publish research findings in indexed journals and present at national and international conferences.
Secure research grants and supervise student or junior staff research.
Contribute to the development of the Faculty's research profile and academic reputation.
Academic Administration and Quality Assurance
Participate actively in departmental, faculty, and university-level committees.
Contribute to the Quality Management System (QMS) and ensure compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements.
Prepare and maintain documentation for accreditation and audit exercises (e.g., MQA, MDC).
Assist in planning, organizing, and evaluating academic and professional development activities.
Leadership and Professional Development
Provide guidance and mentorship to academic and clinical staff within the department.
Promote a culture of academic excellence, ethical practice, and continuous improvement.
Engage in professional development to stay updated with current trends in restorative dental science and pedagogy.
Represent the university in professional associations and academic networks.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS/DDS or equivalent) recognized by the Malaysian Dental Council (MDC).
Master's degree or postgraduate qualification in Restorative Dentistry or related specialty.
PhD or equivalent research qualification (preferred).
Registered with the Malaysian Dental Council and holds a valid Annual Practicing Certificate (APC).
Minimum 5 years of relevant teaching and clinical experience, including at least 2 years at a senior or equivalent academic level.
Proven record of scholarly publications, research, and academic leadership.
Demonstrated excellence in clinical supervision and curriculum innovation.
