Purpose of the Role

  • Provide direct support to the Commercial/Managing Director in ensuring high levels of service is provided to maximize retailer partner acquisition and retention in GfK panel and contract renewals for Malaysia market;
  • Outline and drive Visibility Programs, Retailer Engagement Activities, Audits of Retail Presentations and Capability, Executing Business Development Programs and Consistent Local Retail Support.
Key Activities
  • Maintain and develop retailer relationship for all TCG and other industry retailers incl. organized retail, click & mortar, online marketplace and emerging retail formats.
  • Review and design profitable retailer services proposition and work with wider local and regional teams helping retailers and finally with brands for commercial implication and sales. Actively discuss with retailers on their business need, consultancy and sales for services (cross-sell / upsell) as accounts.
  • Develop and maintain top to top relationships with high-level retailer contacts (CEO, MD, GM) and able to guide stratic insights to the retailer\xe2\x80\x99s business in Malaysia. GfK point of view sharing at various industry association, webinar and retailer internal conference/session (must be a good storyteller, always in the know of key market trends, able to take senior management level discussion, subject matter expert).
  • Develop new product categories to audit and other profitable new business development opportunities
  • Develop new data assets working with wider data ecosystem and external partners for data augmentation and develop tech assets for brands
  • Work smoothly with teams, peers and other functions, building strong relationships, and making an impact for business (must be able to collaborate and work as one team for wider business incl. regional and global teams)
  • Oversee Field team to continously improve retail data in process and uphold stringency in quality. Manage regional retail recruitment and services as required (will need to travel within Malaysia \xe2\x80\x93 a task master with hands on mindset learning GfK internal systems and reporting)
  • Develop and manage a lean team from talent attraction, management and development.

  • Set list of retailers in Malaysia
Skills required
  • Standard office packs, GfK systems (willingness to learn) and previous retail experience on retail/POS report construct (experience in retail/brand background).
  • Sound analytical skills and the ability to interpret research data accurately. Able to deliver accurate, compelling and insightful presentations to clients and in-depth analysis of research results.
  • Excellent networking, sales and negotiation skills with a start up mindset.
  • Digitally savvy, and keen to maintain GfK brand and point of view at major social networks (i.e. LinkedIn). Scout for opportunities in industry speaking/seminars.
  • Must have great soft skills to be able to relate to different retailer segments and their top contacts. Being street-smart and able to hustle when needed.
  • Must be fluent in both written and spoken English (need to have good Chinese speaking)
Typical Education and Work Experience required
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree, preferably in a Business field
  • Minimum 6-8 years working experience, preferably in Client servicing/ Account Management or in the Marketing and Merchandising responsibilities within the Tech & Durables Retail Industry.
  • Prior experience in Retailing of lifestyle or consumer durable products.
