A leading international manufacturer of coated steel products is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to be accountable for maintaining the plant and equipment in excellent manufacturing standards. In this job, you will report directly to the Maintenance Manager.

About the Senior Mechanical Engineer Role:
In this position, you will be expected to safely deliver the output expected in maintaining of plant and equipment in the manufacturing excellence plan on a day-to-day basis, deliver continuous improvement outcomes in the production, and support the direct relationships in your department.

Key Responsibilities:

• Improving operational security of operating lines through identification and procurement of critical spares
• Preparing contingency plan for critical components as to whether or not it can be bypassed
• Implementing equipment rebuilding, upgrading and new projects that would address process improvement, safety and environment deficiencies
• Providing engineering support through design and detailed engineering services to operations and maintenance projects or component modification
• Conducting troubleshooting and failure analysis for equipment breakdown and recurring equipment failure
• Establishing condition monitoring strategies, reviewing existing programs and assessing findings

To be successful in this role, you must have at least 7 - 10 years of experience, preferably in a heavy manufacturing environment.

Key Requirements:

• Degree in mechanical engineering
• 7 - 10 years of experience in the heavy industrial equipment
• Maintenance experience with heavy industrial equipment - preferably continuous operation process
• Prior experience with maintenance of heavy industrial equipment
• Familiar with hydraulic and pneumatic system, engineering drawings and troubleshooting
• Strong technical knowledge in mechanical equipment and maintenance systems
• Written and spoken communication skills to a variety of groups
• Initiative in recognising opportunities and initiating actions
• A leader in safety, health and environment especially in manufacturing environment, and able to identify potential hazards and unsafe acts
