Job Description

Position Title - Network Engineer 1) Job Purpose

• To provide 2nd level and 3rd level technical support service for network and customer access equipment to ensure total customer satisfaction and quality service to customers.

2) Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist in network capacity planning and testing of network equipment.
• Perform configuration on routers, FEP and MPLS, Frame Relay switches.
• Involve in Project Implementation e.g. pilot test, project delivery.
• Disaster Recovery Facilities (DRF) project testing.
• Standby for any testing, upgrade, installation and implementation.
• Product specialist - 3rd level support for the below equipment :
• IBM Front End Processor / Mainframe
• MPLS Infrastructures
• DSL Network
• 3G Network
• Nortel Passport Switches
• Cisco routers, LAN switches and networking related equipments; firewall, bandwidth optimizer etc.
• Networking Reporting/Management System
• Standby on-site at customer place for monitoring and troubleshooting when necessary.
• Involve in technical meeting for testing, implementation and installation.
• Managing network related servers and device security (hardening).
• Performing backup and recovery operations.
• Ensure appropriate access privileges are provided to users based on requirements.
• Generate monthly reports and submit to the Security Manager.
• Share the post hardening report, backup and recovery report with the Security Manager.
• Migration/Housekeeping activities.
• 2nd level support for troubleshooting and operation.
• Responsible for the quality of developed and supplied software, maintenance, support, installation of hardware and software, etc. adherence to SOP and ISO in all department activities.

3) Security Practices Responsibilities

• Support security within the organisation through demonstrated commitment and acknowledgement of information security responsibilities.
• Apply security controls in accordance with established policies and procedures of the organisation.
• Sought to obtain knowledge, awareness and regular updates in organisational policies and procedures as relevant to the job functions.
• Protect all secure areas by appropriate controls to ensure that only authorised personnel are allowed to access.
• Protect all equipments and devices by applying controls established by the organisation to reduce the risks from environment threats and hazard; and opportunities for unauthorised access.
• Adheres to a good security practices in the use of passwords.
• Report all information security incidents through an appropriate management channel as quickly as possible.
• Avoid breaches of any law, statutory, regulatory or contractual obligations and of any security requirements.

4) Qualifying Experience Education Level

• Possess a certificate / diploma / degree in any information technology /engineering computer science discipline.

Experience

• Preferably have at least 5 years related working experience in the relevant networking area.
• 2 to 3 years management experience in the information technology profession, demonstrating strong leadership, team building, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in enforcement of standards, procedures, and methodologies.
• In-Department knowledge of WAN (MPLS, IP VPN, DSL, Frame Relay etc) and LANs (Token Ring, Ethernet), LAN multiple protocols (TCP/IPv4/v6), and Desktop Operating Systems.
• Knowledge of Network PC/Server systems.
