Job Description

Purpose Statement:
The Senior Director of Operations has direct responsibility for engineering and production functions and indirect (dotted line) responsibility for project management, production planning and finance for Boston Scientific, Penang. He/She will provide leadership and direction to his/her management team.
Job Responsibilities:

• He/She has a strong operational focus, leading and driving the organization to continuous improvements in overall performance based on established benchmarks, both within and external to BSC.

• He/She directs the operation of one or more production units, related to a significant product platform e.g. Drug Eluting Stents (DES) and ensures compliance with established S.O.P's and G.M.P guidelines.

• Builds and cultivates strong and sustaining partnerships with R&D, Sales & Marketing and other Corporate sites and is recognized as an excellent team player within Corporate Operations and the particular divisions in which they operate.

• Understands and proactively follows through on the Environmental Management Procedures that have been identified as relevant to position.

• Enables close collaboration between Production, Suppliers and Quality Departments to ensure smooth flow of material and achieving committed delivery performance.

• Demonstrate a particular expertise in communication and presentation skills and will be totally at ease and professional in presenting to, and achieving motivation and enthusiasm on his/her site.

• He/She is committed and innovative in developing their employees, driving succession planning and key development programs for direct reports and throughout the organisation.

• Visibly demonstrate the core values of BSC in everyday leadership style.

• It is necessary for this individual to have an in-depth business knowledge, equally proficient in product and process knowledge and appropriate human anatomy and product applications.
• Provides guidance and training to staff, motivates individuals to achieve results, and assists staff in attaining performance/training objectives and career goals.
• Determines appropriate staff levels, schedules, and resources. Works with other managers (groups) to collaboratively assign tasks and schedule work to meet project completion dates and deliverables.
• Drives projects of major magnitude and scope.

• Provides significant guidance and approval regarding strategies and approaches.

• The Operations Director will demonstrate a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality. He/She understands and complies with all the regulations governing the quality system.

• Ensures that all direct reports are aware of their commitment to patient safety and product quality, are current with their training requirements and that they understand and comply with all other regulations governing their work.

• Identifies and champions improvement and functional excellence initiatives.

• Develops and ensures budgets and schedules meet corporate requirement.

• Champions the sharing and leveraging of initiatives, process, and accomplishments across the divisions/plants.

• Ensures a safe working environment for all employees.

Job Requirements:

• Candidate required to possess at least Bachelor Degree or technical degree. MBA is desired.
• At least 15+ years of experience in a technical field.
• Proficient in both engineering and production discipline as the role will lead both functions for the product.
• Leadership of a large diverse organisation of managers, professional SMEs and direct labour.
• Strong technical problem-solving capability.
• Effective collaboration skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
