About the job Senior Product Development Chemist (Flooring & Coating)

Responsibilities

• Assist Senior Technical team with the duties related to product development, product support and plant support.
• Responsible for product development role with regards to new products/system in line with market demand and requirement.
• Plan product development program (feasibility test, cost analysis, testing regime etc.), prioritize test plan, set completion date and set up review meetings.
• Regularly review formulation and production processes, initiate proposal to improvement existing products/systems for better consistency, user friendliness and cost effectiveness.
• Support and ensure correct formulation, process inputs and codes maintenance in PV for smooth and effective system operation.
• Work collaboratively with Purchasing team to optimize product cost, evaluation of new and alternative raw material for secured supply chain.
• Work closely with Technical, Procurement, Production, Marketing and Quality departments with regards to product testing in lab, cost analysis, QC requirement, trial batch and product launching.
• Assist with the scale up of products to the plant and monitor plant production batches, as necessary.
• Supervise site application trials of new or improved products as necessary.
• Support Quality Control and Technical Service in complaint investigation, provide technical advice as required.
• Provide technical assistance to QC/QA/Production as required to resolve product or raw material related production issues.
• Assist with planning and set up of new Powder lab, initiate proposal plan for Test Equipment related to Cementitious Product Testing.
• Ensure proper R&D documentation throughout development activities, all relevant technical reports are properly documented according to ISO 9001:2015 as defined by the company.
• Write routine reports, as necessary.
• Maintaining to ensure up-to-date raw materials and product formulations and SOP in Product Vision and LN system.

Requirements

• Degree/Masters Degree in Material Science, or Chemistry, or Applied Science. Preferably those specialising in Chemistry, or Polymer Science.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Product Development and QC in a Manufacturing laboratory environment.
• Must have experience in Construction Chemicals industry, preferably in Flooring, Coating or LAM application.
• Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills and some experience of ERP systems.
• Good report writing skills.
• Good written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia.

Remuneration

RM 6,000 - RM 8,000
