We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented
Senior QA/QC Engineer
to oversee and ensure the highest quality standards in steel fabrication projects. This role will involve quality planning, inspection, documentation, and continuous improvement to ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and industry standards. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, production, and client teams to maintain quality assurance and control across all project phases.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor and inspect fabrication activities including cutting, welding, assembly.
Conduct inspections such as fit-up, welding, painting, and final checks; prepare related reports.
Coordinate inspection activities with third-party inspectors, clients, and internal teams.
Maintain accurate and traceable records of all quality-related documents (ITPs, WPS, WPQRs, welder qualifications, material certificates, etc.).
Ensure welders are qualified according to approved WPS.
Prepare daily welding reports and verify compliance with NDT requirements.
Perform inspections in line with project ITPs, specifications, and contract standards.
Identify quality issues, coordinate with engineers/production teams, and follow up on corrective actions.
Collaborate with production supervisors and engineers to schedule and carry out inspections.
Ensure that all inspection reports are accurate and that all attached documents are status.
Review work procedures and method statements for compliance with good work practices and the customers contract specializations
Support the timely compilation and submission of project quality dossiers.
Report directly to the QA/QC Assistant Manager.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree
in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum 4-5 years
of QA/QC experience in steel fabrication or structural steel industry.
Strong knowledge of international codes and standards (AWS, ASME, API, ISO, etc.).
Certified Welding Inspector (CSWIP 3.1/3.2 or AWS CWI) is highly preferred.
Familiar with NDT techniques and certifications (e.g., RT, UT, MT, PT) is an advantage.
Proficient in reading technical drawings and quality documentation.
Good communication and the ability to work independently.
Malaysian citizenship or valid work authorization in Malaysia.

Standard working hours with occasional requirement for extended working hours and weekend work based on project requirements.
12-month fixed-term contract with potential for extension based on performance and project continuity.
