Job Description
JOB PURPOSE
A Fellow supports research within a Faculty/School/Research Centre by developing proposals and projects, plans and coordinates research activities, undertakes research, leads or is a major contributor to a programme/project in accordance with University strategy, policy and procedures and funder requirements.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop new ideas for research in collaboration with faculty members and external parties.
- Plans research projects, preparation of proposals and applications to external bodies, e.g. for funding and contractual purposes.
- Manages the research activities of the team, including research budgets and managing the use of research resources.
- Contribute to teaching and assisting in the supervision of postgraduate research students and in the development of student/ junior researchers\' research skills.
- Contribute towards the development of research reports and publications, preparing papers and presenting research progress and outcomes of research projects.
Applicant must have a PhD and expertise in the area as indicated by published research with a strong publication record in high quality journals and competitive research grants won.
RELATED EXPERIENCE
More than 7 years of experience post-PhD in a directly relevant position, with evidence of leadership capability. Strong record of publication in high quality journals e.g. journal titles in the top 50% within the discipline domain (Clarivate/Scopus). Record of postgraduate supervision of research students, evidence of competitive grants won, especially from international funding agencies and industry. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Evidence of the ability to facilitate collaboration within the University and external parties to successfully complete research projects.
