In addition to the backend development of the platform, our team also participates in the design and development of recall and ranking strategies to improve search performance.Get to Know the RoleWe are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our food search team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, design, and optimization of our distributed search platform. This role involves conducting requirement analysis, interfacing design, and management with product teams to ensure high-quality support for search business applications. Additionally, the candidate will be tasked with quality tracking of search-related features, continuous optimization, and performance tuning. The role also includes participating in the design and development of search and ranking strategies for various usage scenarios, contributing to continuous improvements.The Day-to-Day Activities:

• Develop, maintain, and optimize the distributed search platform that powers Grab\'s food and mart channels;
• Collaborate with product teams to conduct requirement analysis and design interfaces to ensure high-quality support for search business applications;
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging to maintain the platform\'s stability and performance;
• Perform performance tuning and capacity planning to ensure the search platform can handle increasing traffic and scale effectively.
• Engage in the design and development of search and ranking strategies for various usage scenarios, working closely with data scientists and product managers.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the search platform by proposing and implementing new features, algorithms, and architectures.
• Investigate and resolve production issues, ensuring minimal downtime and impact on users.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in the field of search and recommendation systems, and apply this knowledge to improve the platform.

Qualifications

• Bachelor\'s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 3 years of work experience in maintaining, designing, and optimizing distributed search or related systems.
• Experience with quality tracking, continuous optimization, and performance tuning of search-related features.
• Demonstrated ability in designing and developing search/recommendation and ranking strategies for different usage scenarios.
• Excellent programming skills in one or more languages relevant to search platform development (e.g., golang, java).
• Familiarity with search engine technologies (e.g., Elasticsearch, Solr, Lucene) and their application in a distributed environment.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with product teams and other stakeholders.
• A results-driven mindset with a commitment to delivering high-quality work on schedule.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for search technologies and a drive to continuously improve search strategies and performance to meet the dynamic needs of our search platform.The Nice-to-Haves:

• Extensive experience with search engine technologies such as Elasticsearch, Solr, or Lucene, demonstrating a deep understanding of their architectures, features, and best practices for optimizing search performance and relevance
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with stakeholders across different countries and teams
