Senior Stay Cable Engineer

Job Description



Minimum 7 years of working experience in stay cable systems (both saddle and anchorage systems). Plan and manage materials, manpower, and equipment to ensure smooth operations of stay cable installation activities. Develop and prepare detailed method statements, work procedures, and risk assessments for stay cable-related works according to site conditions. Lead and supervise teams for daily stay cable activities including: Stay pipe preparation and lifting (including fire protection systems) Strand installation (anchorage and saddle methods) Stressing, damper installation, and finishing works Prepare calculations for SSI, unsheathing, stay pipe length, and coordinate with the technical team to ensure all stressing work (sequence, force, elongation) is accurate and properly executed. Train and mentor local supervisors and workers to develop their technical competency in stay cable operations. Establish and maintain a comprehensive documentation and record system, including Method Statements, Risk Assessments, QA/QC checklists, and Safety Documents. Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, and project specifications at all times. Conduct site inspections to verify that works meet design and technical specifications. Collaborate closely with site teams to achieve project progress and milestones according to the approved schedule.

Requirements / Qualifications



Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent from a recognized institution. Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in bridge or cable-stayed bridge projects, specializing in stay cable systems. Proven hands-on experience in both anchorage and saddle-type stay cable installations. Strong understanding of cable-stay construction methodologies, QA/QC procedures, and safety management systems. Familiar with international codes and standards (e.g., EN, AASHTO, BS) related to stay cable works. Proficient in MS Office, AutoCAD, and other engineering software relevant to structural and cable analysis. Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills. Able to work independently and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams and subcontractors. Willing and able to work in Sarawak for the full duration of the project. Candidates with prior experience in international bridge projects or major infrastructure works will have an advantage.
Job Type: Contract
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: RM5,000.00 - RM6,000.00 per month
