Position: Senior Teacher Assistant (Special Needs / Elementary or Primary)
Department: Education Team
Reporting to: Education Management Team (EMT)
Objectives:
To support students' development in academic, behavior and social areas during classes, breaks, transitions or special events, as well as supporting inclusion in the mainstream classes. Assist the teacher in achieving teaching and learning objectives while maintaining standard of order in the class.
Teacher Assistant Responsibilities
Help prepare and adapt materials and resources for lessons
Help develop and implement IEPs; follow individual educational, care, and behavior plans
Support students in classroom and non-classroom activities
Assist individual students in comprehending concepts from lessons
Demonstrate understanding of the students' individual needs
Motivate and encourage students' progress and independence
Encourage and facilitate students' positive communication and social skills
Manage students' behavior
Monitor students during activities and downtime and intervene in case of adverse activities
Look after students' physical needs including toileting and mobility
Support the teacher in keeping records, classroom set-up, and general class management
Keep up-to-date on all records, documentation, and reports using MINDSPACE-approved platforms
Work collaboratively with other staff
Liaise with the teacher and the Education Management Team (EMT) to ensure students' maximum progress
Attend all necessary meetings, training, functions, reviews, etc.
Keep the classroom and facilities tidy
Teach elective courses
Keep assigned supervision duties
Maintain student safety standards and practices
Follow all standards and procedures used by MINDSPACE
