KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Deliver on operational and strategic commitments in Sarawak Energy Hydro Environmental Sciences Research Blueprint and unit operating plan, responsible for providing scientific expertise and leadership to support the organization\'s commitment in meeting the ESG/HSS and relevant criteria of the company\'s Environmental Excellence aspiration.
2. Lead a team of ecologists in the development and implementation of wildlife monitoring by applying/using technologies/sensors for the sustainable monitoring at affected hydropower projects/areas. Act as the internal expert to advise management of the best strategies based on global standards whilst applying them in our local context/setting.
3. Lead a team of ecologists to apply/utilize new technology - artificial intelligence and big data in the wildlife management. Consolidate and analyse this information for the purpose of advising key stakeholders and management, supporting evidence-based decision-making with regards to wildlife related issues in hydropower development and operation.
4. Review all existing literature and research to provide detailed descriptions of the processes associated with wildlife technology and biological conditions as well as the nature and characteristics of the potential impacts of hydropower dams according to international best practices of mitigation options for wildlife and biological related impacts.
5. Conduct research; collect, collate, and analyze data; prepare and review technical reports, white papers, and power point presentations; develop and review standard operating procedures, environmental guidance, instructions, policy, and processes; and lead the team in meetings and action items related to wildlife technology, conservation, statistical & trends, and their associated issues.
6. Keep abreast with the knowledge of the abundance, distribution, ecology, and management needs of wildlife in hydropower planning and management and uses this information to advise hydropower development and operation.
7. Lead the development and continuous improvement of technology application in biodiversity and ecosystem health monitoring and research programmes for the company that address significant issues of concern by applying innovative ideas such as nature-based solutions.
8. Lead in engagements with local and international counterparts including government agencies, institutions and NGOs who may be involved in research in this field and document summary of findings to formulate the relevant strategy and planning for the organization.
