SEO Specialist Freelance Contractor

We are currently looking for an experienced freelance SEO specialist (preferably based in Malaysia) to assist in SEO activities for an initial 3-month project for a leading financial service client. This role is best suited for a self-driven person with strong analytical, problem-solving skills who thrives working with different teams and ultimately wants to make a difference. Extension of service is probable for qualified candidates.

Key Accountabilities

• Identify opportunities & issues, recommend and implement all SEO activities to increase traffic and onsite conversion for a website project in the finance industry.
• Perform thorough keyword research and identify relevant, high-traffic, in-demand search terms, queries, and topics using Google trends and similar tools to capitalize on new opportunities for on-page SEO and onsite content.
• Improve domain and page authority by monitoring link health and implementing white-hat backlinking strategies.
• Collaborate with Product, Tech and Content teams for ongoing and ad hoc tasks where SEO inputs are required.
• Perform monthly SEO health checks: identify and fix site errors, broken links, implement redirects, canonical tags, image optimization, improve internal linking, optimize robots.txt file, sitemap.xml file, etc.
• Produce regular reports for key stakeholders.

Key Requirements

• Can offer immediate operational impact with at least 2-3 years of experience in SEO.
• Self-starter, can-do attitude, ability to collaborate with other teams to get things done. Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
• 2 years of hands-on experience in Web/SEO analytic tools: Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Google Keyword Planner, etc.
• 1-2 years of hands-on experience for SEO tools such as or similar to Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, SEMrush, SimilarWeb, SEO Monitor, Rank Tracker, etc.
• Currently up to date with the latest SEO trends and best practices.
• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
