The Maintenance Technician (Fire Alarm System) is responsible for performing routine maintenance, inspection, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of fire alarm and detection systems to ensure full functionality and compliance with safety standards and local regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintenance & Inspection
Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance for fire alarm systems, panels, and devices.
Inspect detectors, manual call points, sounders, and modules to ensure proper operation.
Test fire alarm panels and devices in accordance with NFPA, BOMBA, MS Standard or other applicable standards.
Clean and calibrate smoke and heat detectors as required.
2. Troubleshooting & Repair
Identify and rectify system faults or wiring issues.
Replace defective devices such as detectors, call points, or interface modules.
Reset and verify system after fault rectification.
Check and replace mechanical pipe fittings
3. Testing & Commissioning
Perform function testing of devices and confirm proper signal transmission to Fire Alarm Control Panel.
Assist engineers during new installation testing and commissioning works.
4. Documentation & Reporting
Record all maintenance, testing, and rectification works in service reports.
Maintain up-to-date asset lists and maintenance checklists.
Report any abnormalities, system faults, or non-compliance to the supervisor immediately.
5. Coordination & Compliance
Coordinate with building management or client representatives for access and scheduling.
Ensure all maintenance activities comply with company safety procedures and statutory regulations.
Support during BOMBA inspections or system handover.
