Job Description

Job Purpose

The Data Center Engineer will be responsible for the implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems within the data center environment. This includes supporting infrastructure automation, ensuring system reliability, and working closely with electrical, mechanical, and IT teams to optimize critical facility operations.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor and manage PLC-based systems for power, cooling, fire suppression, and other facility infrastructure. Implement and configure PLC logic and control systems for new and existing equipment. Conduct routine inspections, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance on control systems and PLC panels. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (electrical, mechanical, IT) to integrate PLC systems with Building Management Systems (BMS) and Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tools. Identify and troubleshoot issues in real-time using HMI/SCADA systems and provide corrective action plans. Document system architecture, change management, and technical processes. Support data collection and reporting functions related to system performance, alarms, and operational status. Maintain compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards (e.g., ISO, TIA-942). Participate in new project rollouts, capacity upgrades, and system expansions. Train junior engineers or technicians on PLC operations and safety procedures.

Requirements

Education & Certifications

:

Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Mechatronics, or a related field. Certification in PLC Programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Schneider) is a strong advantage.

Experience

:

0-1 year of experience in a data center, industrial automation, or critical facility environment. Hands-on experience in PLC programming, ladder logic, and HMI/SCADA systems. Familiarity with electrical schematics, HVAC, and data center infrastructure.

Skills

:

Proficient in PLC software (e.g., RSLogix, TIA Portal, CODESYS). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to read technical diagrams and P&IDs. Good communication and coordination skills. Knowledge of protocols such as Modbus, BACnet, OPC is preferred.

Pay: RM4,000.00 - RM6,000.00 per month
