Objectives of the Position

BASF News Watch is a software that collects different news sources and redistribute to BASF employees based on specific interest or demand on multiple channels and devices. We are looking for a database maintenance engineer to maintain the day-to-day operations of this software: holistic support the operational system, controlling of data input streams, first level user support and internal user billing preparation.

Main Tasks

• Control, manage and support the whole production line of the BASF News Watch service (Maintenance)

• Check and report the input channels daily on completeness and timeliness

• If necessary contact the data provider for more information
• Stay also in close contact to the software development team if there are any problems with the input channels
• Close contact to intern IT colleagues if there are any hardware or server problems
• Check and report the output channels daily on completeness and timeliness: proof the correct sending of the daily produced profiles
• First level support for questions around production and source availability and profile creation
• Reporting of the key indicators and support of individual reporting requests around production from management
• Support the technical development of the BASF News Watch platform together with our external software development partner

• Develop technical guidelines in frame for BASF infrastructure for putting the platform on the next level (cloud based etc.)
• Being the first contact for the external software development partner in technical questions around BASFs technical infrastructure
• Support the tests and version management

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor\'s Degree in (business) informatics or comparable technical education in the field of computer science

Working Experience

• Working experience in software engineering

Technical & Professional Knowledge (Mandatory)

• Good knowledge about MS Office products
• Excellent knowledge on data and principles of database management (relation models, SQL)
• Enhanced knowledge about new data and database management techniques
• One or more standard programming languages (Java, C++, PHP, Python etc)
• Experience of using of programming framework environments
• Knowledge about Web technologies (Javascript; HTML; Rest; etc.)
