• The Mobility Android team is an established engineering team responsible for building features or improvements related to the Transportation service in the Grab passenger Android app.
• We make an impact by delivering the most ideal experience to the millions of consumers across SEA using Grab Transportation service every day. Our team is made up of friendly, passionate, and talented engineers.

Get to know the Role

• Work closely with Product/Design/Analytics teams to understand business problems and requirements
• Collaborate with Android/iOS/Backend/QA Engineers to propose and implement technical solutions that are scalable, robust, and address the actual problems.
• Write code that is reusable, scalable, and testable. Make sure features are delivered with high quality in a timely manner.
• Review code and engineering specs from team members, provide constructive feedback, and strive to raise the engineering bar.
• Be responsible and responsive during on-call duty. Able to triage, debug, mitigate, and fix complex issues. Able to assist with ad hoc queries from other teams.
• Identify pain points and inefficiencies in the codebase, system, and process, proactively propose and take action items to address them.

Qualifications

The Must-Haves

• 2+ years of Android development experience in building scalable and highly available mobile applications.
• Understanding the Android system and programming paradigm including OOP, TDD, reactive patterns, and dependency injection.
• Working knowledge of several architectural approaches including clean architecture, MVP, MVVM, and Clean Architecture
• Experience building maintainable and testable code bases, including API design, unit testing, and UI testing techniques.
• Highly accountable and takes ownership of your own work.
• Good problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in Kotlin/Rxjava
• Have a good understanding of UI: view cycle, view, and layouts.
• Excellent working knowledge of the mobile app development life cycle and best practices.

The Nice-to-Haves

• Have a good understanding of UI/UX and be detail-oriented.
• Have a good understanding of concurrency/multiple threads.
• Have a working knowledge of app performance and how to troubleshoot and improve.
