Role Overview

We are looking for a hands-on

Software Engineer Team Leader

who combines strong technical expertise with light people leadership. This role is approximately

80% coding and 20% leadership

, with a primary focus on

Java backend development (70%)

and

front-end development (30%)

.

The ideal candidate leads by example through technical contribution, sets high engineering standards, and supports the team in delivering scalable, high-quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Act as a hands-on technical leader, contributing directly to coding and system design Develop, maintain, and optimise backend services using Java Build and support front-end components using modern JavaScript frameworks Perform code reviews and enforce best engineering practices Guide and mentor engineers through technical direction and constructive feedback Collaborate with product and business teams to deliver scalable solutions Support sprint planning, task prioritisation, and delivery tracking Ensure system performance, reliability, and overall code quality
Technical Requirements

Strong expertise in

Java

(approximately 70% of technical work) Solid experience in

front-end development

(approximately 30%), including: JavaScript, HTML, CSS Experience with frameworks such as

React, Angular, or similar

Experience building

RESTful APIs

and integrating with databases Familiarity with

Git

and modern development workflows
Leadership & Collaboration Skills

Around 20% of the role focused on leadership responsibilities Experience mentoring developers and providing technical guidance Strong communication and collaboration skills Ability to make sound technical decisions and support team execution
Experience

Proven experience as a Software Engineer with

senior or team lead responsibilities

Strong problem-solving skills and architectural thinking Experience working in

agile or fast-paced development environments

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: RM30,000.00 - RM40,000.00 per month
