In this senior-level role, you will lead and support the design, development, and implementation of advanced communication systems with a focus on fixed wireless, microwave, and satellite technologies. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the highest level of system performance, reliability, and scalability, while contributing to strategic decisions and technology roadmaps.This role requires a deep understanding of fixed wireless technologies, microwave communication systems, satellite systems, RF engineering, signal processing, and the ability to drive innovation in communication technologies. The ideal candidate is a subject matter expert with a proven track record in leading complex communication projects and mentoring junior engineers.What are you accountable for?
Lead the design, development, and optimisation of cutting-edge fixed wireless, microwave, and satellite communication systems, ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability.
Provide expert-level guidance on the application of fixed wireless technologies (e.g., LTE-A, WiMAX, Fixed Broadband solutions), microwave communication systems (e.g., point-to-point, point-to-multipoint), and satellite communication protocols (e.g., GEO, MEO, LEO, DVB-S2).
Develop and implement signal processing algorithms and models to enhance communication quality and data throughput for both terrestrial fixed wireless, microwave, and satellite networks.
Oversee the integration of satellite, microwave, and fixed wireless communication systems with terrestrial networks, ensuring interoperability and hybrid communication solutions.
Collaborate with product development, network engineering, and systems integration teams to meet customer and operational requirements.
Contribute to the development of technical documentation, including specifications, reports, and white papers.
Stay current with emerging technologies in fixed wireless, microwave, and satellite communications, and evaluate their potential applications to our products and services.
Mentor and provide technical leadership to junior engineers, fostering innovation and continuous improvement.
Conduct advanced troubleshooting, performance analysis, and optimisation of communication systems in both lab and field environments.
Engage with external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, partners, and customers, to ensure compliance and to drive the adoption of new technologies.
What do you need to have for the role?
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field
Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in fixed wireless, microwave, and satellite communications, with at least 5 years in a senior role.
In-depth knowledge of fixed wireless technologies (e.g., LTE-A, WiMAX, Fixed Broadband solutions), microwave communication systems (e.g., point-to-point, point-to-multipoint), and satellite communication systems (e.g., GEO, MEO, LEO, DVB-S2).
Expertise in RF engineering, including spectrum management, propagation models, antenna systems, and microwave technology for both fixed wireless and satellite applications.
Strong background in signal processing algorithms and techniques for fixed wireless, microwave, and satellite communication systems.
Familiarity with network architecture and protocols, including IP networking, SDN, and NFV in relation to microwave, fixed wireless, and satellite systems.
Demonstrated experience in system integration, testing, and performance optimisation for fixed wireless, microwave, and satellite communication systems in real-world environments.
Proficiency in simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink, or other RF tools) and signal analysis software.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to work independently, as well as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
Experience in leading cross-functional teams and mentoring engineers.
