We are seeking a talented and experienced Sous Chef to join our culinary team in Sepang, Malaysia. As the second-in-command in our kitchen, you will play a crucial role in maintaining our high standards of food quality and kitchen operations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your culinary expertise and leadership skills in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Assist the Executive Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations and staff management
Collaborate with the culinary team to develop innovative menu items and specials
Ensure consistent food quality and presentation across all dishes
Assign specific duties to kitchen staff and provide guidance and training as needed
Monitor and maintain proper food storage, handling, and safety standards
Work closely with the Executive Chef to manage food costs and minimize waste
Participate in inventory management and ordering of supplies
Conduct regular quality checks on food items to ensure they meet our high standards
Contribute to menu planning and recipe development
Step in for the Executive Chef when necessary
Qualifications
Culinary school graduate or equivalent experience in the field
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a high-volume kitchen
Strong leadership and team management skills
Strong technical knowledge of classic and modern pastry techniques
In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations and hygiene standards
Creativity in menu planning and food presentation
Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Strong organizational and time management skills
Proficiency in kitchen management software and inventory systems
Certification(s) from a reputable culinary institution (preferred)
Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
Passion for culinary arts and commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences
* Experienced in pastry will be an advantage
