Job Description

The Specification Executive role in the building materials industry focuses on driving sales by building and maintaining relationships with architects, interior designers, and contractors, ensuring product specifications meet their needs.   • Promote the company's product portfolio to architects, interior designers, and contractors, ensuring its integration into architectural plans and design specifications. Provide comprehensive technical support, including product samples, literature, and application guidance.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with key specifiers and industry influencers through engaging product presentations, CPD sessions, participation in trade shows, industry events, and strategic networking activities.
  • Deliver expert technical advice on product usage and installation, promptly addressing inquiries and collaborating with the technical team to enhance and maintain product documentation.
  • Track market dynamics, competitor movements, and industry trends. Collect and analyze client feedback to identify emerging needs and share actionable insights with the sales and marketing teams.
  • Maintain detailed records of client engagements, project specifications, and sales opportunities. Prepare regular reports to evaluate specification success rates and monitor market developments.

We are looking for a candidate with experience in sales, business development or specification roles for the building materials industry. Ideal candidates should have:
  • At least 2 years' experience in sales, business development, or specification roles, ideally within the construction, interior design, or surfacing materials sectors.
  • Strong technical understanding of surface materials, including finishes and their applications across various environments.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage, influence, and build trust with clients.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and sustaining long-term client relationships.
  • Analytical and problem-solving mindset, capable of identifying customer needs and delivering tailored, value-driven solutions.
