Sr Application Engineer/Application Engineer - Telecommunication

In this role, you will be the Subject Matter Expert in the field of Telecommunications within the Energy segment. Reporting to Commercial Operations Director, you will support the local Sales organization/customers in determining the most technically appropriate and cost-effective solutions and prepare technical descriptions of the applied products and technology to support the sales process. Serve as a key technical resource for the Asia region. This position is based at Subang Jaya, Malaysia.

Your responsibilities

• Offering technical advice, consults and provides comment to support in early engagement, conceptual studies, FEED, and on enquiry specifications for customers/Account Managers with regards to ABB's integrated Electrification, Controls, Telecommunications & Digital (ECTD) solutions.
• Working in collaboration with other Application Engineers (AE) within their domain (i.e. Electrical, Controls, Telco, etc).
• Providing technical support during the technical meeting, product presentations and negotiations.
• Performing analytic and diagnostic studies to determine most suitable technical solution to meet customer needs by proposing technical solutions for complex enquiries.
• Preparing and delivering technical presentations and demonstrations for both internal staff and customers on complex product issues.
• Offering product/solution/service-related training and preparing and checking technical articles for publication.
• You will champion ABB's commitment to fostering a culture where Compliance & Integrity is woven into the fabric of everything we do.

Your background

• Engineering degree and 8+ years of expertise in Energy Industry area.
• Experience in multi-disciplinary electrical / automation / Control projects and application.
• Experience in Asia Pacific customer base - Oil & Gas, and/or Chemical & Refinery Industries.
• International, cross-BU and cross-division experience.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
