Responsibilities may include the following and other duties as assigned:
Develop, administer, and implement environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs in accordance with governmental requirements
Monitor pollution prevention activities, compliance, and auditing efforts (depending on location)
Conduct studies and prepare environmental impact reports for new construction projects, plant processes, and permit changes
Review and analyze environmental documentation issued by regulatory agencies; collaborate to determine corrective action plans
Conduct ergonomic assessments to identify and mitigate musculoskeletal risks
Build strong relationships with EHS vendors and serve as the primary contact for issue resolution
Evaluate proposed regulations to determine financial, industrial, public, and environmental impact
Interact with regulatory bodies to resolve compliance issues; establish permit requirements and assist in audits
Represent the company in government and industry rule-making activities
Ensure appropriate corrective action is taken where environmental, health, and safety hazards exist
Identify and take corrective action against activities that pose potential threats to workers' health or safety
Recommend organizational measures to protect workers' safety through revised methods, processes, or materials
Inspect workplace environments, equipment, and practices to ensure compliance with standards and regulations
Investigate and identify causes of reported incidents
Provide and promote employee awareness/training on EHS matters

Required Knowledge and Experience
Bachelor's degree or higher in chemical engineering, environmental engineering, occupational health, safety, environmental protection, fire safety, or related fields
Minimum of 4 years relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience in manufacturing or related fields focused on safety and environmental protection
Experience in factory construction from the ground up is an advantage
Proficiency in Malay required; strong English communication skills essential; Mandarin is a plus
Familiarity with ergonomic assessment tools such as REBA or NIOSH Lifting Equation
Knowledge of Malaysian safety and environmental laws and international standards
Capable of conducting risk assessments, accident investigations, environmental monitoring, and data analysis
BOMBA fire emergency certification required; experience with MyEHS system preferred
Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; ability to read construction CAD drawings and basic AutoCAD knowledge required
Must hold a valid DOSH-certified Safety Officer qualification
Possession of Green Book certification as a registered Safety and Health Officer (SHO) with DOSH preferred
* Practical project management knowledge and Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt certification preferred
