Our team comprises 1,800 people and we are dedicated to adding value beyond the surface. Role Description This is a full-time on-site role located in Shah Alam for a Senior Innovation Chemist. The Senior Innovation Chemist will lead and conduct research and development activities, and analyze and evaluate existing products/processes/technologies to optimize and enhance performance, environmental sustainability, and cost-effectiveness. Job Responsibilities Report to the Head of Long-Term Development for Global function. Contribute to the establishment and management of an Innovation pipeline to deliver breakthrough technology products for a key customer in keeping with Beckers sustainability principles. Form and maintain close collaborative working relationship with the customer as well as all relevant cross-functional Beckers stakeholder both regionally & globally. Responsible for tracking new technologies and forming collaborations with externa 3rd parties such as raw material suppliers, universities, start-ups etc. Assume responsibility as Beckers in-house technical authority and provide advice & support to stakeholders when required. Hands-on practical laboratory work to develop technological breakthroughs. Qualifications Master Degree and above in Chemistry or related field At least 5 to 8 years of experience in research and development of coatings, polymers, or related fields Strong knowledge of formulation science and technology and problem-solving skills Excellent communication & presentation skills, both written and verbal (English essential, proficiency in other languages is optional). Highly professional, reliable and able to form professional relationships. Self-motivated with ability to work under pressure and under your own initiative. Problem solving skills, analytical skills, ability to make decisions quickly and find creative solutions to intractable problems. Ability to innovate and maintain a high level of attention to detail is desired.
