SUMMARY OF ROLE:
In this role, as a Sr. Staff Process Engineer within Maxeon\xe2\x80\x99s solar cell R&D P-Series Cell Technology Development (CTD) team, Engineer will use sound and proven engineering principles to assist in developing processes and process requirements from internal and external stakeholders and that is pushing the limits of processing, equipment and metrology for current and next-generation PERC/TOPCon solar cell technologies. This engineer will have a significant role in guiding and contributing to technology roadmaps, in addition to your responsibilities for process development and optimization addressing some key technical issues during the development phase prior full transfer to high volume manufacturing (HVM).
This position will lead efforts to understand current and future needs of Cell Fab Manufacturing, explore and evaluate new technologies and concepts for meeting those needs, and rapidly demonstrate feasibility of such technologies through rigorous modeling, analysis, experimentation and other risk identification and mitigation activities.
The position will transfer and work on process development/scale up or new products from R&D. Involvement may begin from feasibility at R&D team then deploy to full scale manufacturing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary responsibility is the development of manufacturing processes to improve the efficiency, cost, reliability and quality of solar cells. Coordinating/executing experiments in the laboratory, at production sites, and at vendor sites. Analyzing and presenting data clearly and concisely, with recommendations. Integration of new processes to upstream and downstream processing and product requirements. Identifying critical process/equipment interactions and working with equipment engineers (especially to Equipment Design and Development engineer) to ensure that existing and future Tooling can deliver robust and scalable process Works closely with equipment engineer, integration engineer, quality engineer and reliability engineer to optimize process so as to improve FAB performance such as Quality, Yield, OEE & Cost. Reduce the cost of indirect materials and other consumables in production lines using Data Analysis, Engineering Evaluations and Process Characterizations. If requested, to travel to China and US for training, acceptance and startup of equipments and production lines \xe2\x80\x93 possibly from short term visits up to more than 6 months. Leader of any process related activities/ improvement. Leading process simplification/ optimization activities. Process owner for sustaining electrical yield performance and cost down initiatives. Document owner and perform sunset review timely for process recipe and SOP. Provides guidance and training to Junior Engineer, Process and Qual Technicans. Perform cross function communication and negotiation with suppliers. Submit weekly report timely.

RELATED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Degree or Master Degree in the field of Chemical Engineering or Materials Science. Extensive industry experience with manufacturing process on PERC cell manufacturing is preferable. Minimum 5 years working experience in Process engineering. Knowledge of solar cell processing and characterization with broad knowledge of process characterization techniques. Self-starter, comfortable with owning a development project from ideation through transfer to high volume manufacturing. Flexible, creative problem solver, willing to adapt to unexpected situations to get results. Experience of working in multi-function team. Posses good understanding of problem solving tools (FMEA, 5 whys, 8D, DMAIC), systematic approach with a good mindset. Engineering statistics and experience with statistical software (e.g. JMP, Tableau) a plus. Experience with statistical process control (SPC) in a production environment. Good knowledge in Lean/ KAIZEN/ TPM. Good interpersonal skills. Team player, positive outlook, good at working with diverse groups. Ability to work/ guide other process engineer on process optimization activities. Open minded for change & improvement. Possess team leadership quality. Ability to speak, write and read in Mandarin.
