Job Description

STAFF GEOLOGIST 1. KEY OBJECTIVES Build, maintain and evaluate a range of 3D static geological models in support of reservoir characterization and dynamic reservoir simulation studies, leading to an understanding of the resources and reserves distribution and an optimum field development strategy for the deep and shallow water development projects in Sabah basins. Lead or participate in regional studies to evaluate basin prospectivity, petroleum system to support continuation of production on new or existing development fields and potential value-adding opportunities in and around the development acreage. Experience working in complex tectonic setting involving deep water depositional system and shallow water environment. 2. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Build discrete static geological models utilizing multiple subsurface scenarios capturing structural, stratigraphic and petrophysical uncertainties, for reserves assessment, history matching, production optimization, deep and shallow water development scenarios. This requires experience in modeling using seismic, petrophysical, and production data to help constrain geological model facies and knowledge of analogue data to constrain property distributions within the modeled facies. Prepare detailed reports on model construction and support the reporting of hydrocarbons-in-place estimation as well as update and prepare field development plans. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and provide geological input for regional studies and petroleum system assessments to develop/review new prospects (Near Field Exploration) and appraisal opportunities for Sabah field development. Highly knowledgeable in stratigraphic, structural and petroleum systems data types for the purpose of integration, trend identification and phenomenon explanation/prediction. Provide geological support and advice in opportunity generation including planning, evaluation and / or execution of Full Field Review (FFR) or Field Development Plan (FDP) / appraisal or infill well programs / well work opportunities. Lead technical team in data room evaluation or farm-in/farm-out opportunity as required Oversee all geological aspects (stratigraphy, sedimentology, etc.) for development projects in Sabah Petroleum Department. Geological understanding for Sabah region is highly preferred. Conduct resource assessments for all oil and gas fields and provide technical inputs consistent with industry practices through the integration of geological, petrophysical and dynamic reservoir data. Advice, QA/QC and mentoring junior staff in all related geological work Plan and manage studies by geological service contractors in timely and cost-efficient manner - when applicable Prepare, present and defend technical position to management, partners and PETRONAS. 3. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Relevant degree with a preference for postgraduate qualification. More than 16 - 20 years of multi-basin experience with an E&P company. Diverse exploration, appraisal and development experience and expertise. Experience in integrating diverse geological, geophysical, petrophysical and reservoir engineering data into a cohesive and comprehensive basin evaluation. Demonstrable skills in the core areas of Structural, Stratigraphy and Sedimentology with good understanding of the others. Hands on experience in resource and risk assessment, field development/well planning and geological operations. Familiar with formation evaluation, sequence stratigraphic concepts and seismic data interpretation and mapping. Petrel experience on geomodelling would be a significant positive Software qualification of Petrel, Geox or MMRD or Crystal Ball or ToolBox or @Risk. Geological understanding for Sabah region is highly preferred.
