Job Description

Provides direct patient care through the nursing process within hospital and unit policies, protocols and standards Demonstrates knowledge and assessment skills required in the clinical area Initiate appropriate action in urgent and emergency situations Document all assessments, interventions and information pertaining to patient's condition Demonstrates effective oral and written communication Able to interact with colleagues, patients, visitors and other disciplines in the hospital. Complies with hospital infection control and safety protocols Participates in activities designed for the improvement of standards Acts as a preceptor/ resource person and role model for new staff Takes responsibilities for own professional growth Anticipates and acts to maintain a safe working environment Demonstrates respect, compassion and cultural sensitivity to patients/families and colleagues Assumes responsibility for own actions, decisions and behaviour Performs other related duties as assigned eg Assess, plan and implement total patient care Invasive haemodynamic monitorind Mechanical ventilation Continous renal replacement therapy Intravenous therapy Airway management Respiratory care Pain management Administration of medications Emergency procedures Nutritional care Patient/family education
